I posted in the newbie section about the cracked manifold on the ictdi I recently bought from a dealer, but I thought it's probably best to post any updates on here.

I had a call from the dealer yesterday saying the manifold wasn't cracked and only the gasket needed changing, it was obvious they hadn't removed the manifold and just tried to get away with replacing the gasket.

Anyhow, I rang this morning so see if there'd been any progress only to be told the manifold was cracked after all but they were having trouble getting it off the car and they were busy removing the drive shaft. I've read through all the threads re this problem and not once seen removing the drive shaft mentioned. I've now got no confidence in getting the car back in an acceptable condition, and feel like rejecting the car on the grounds of breach of contract, and asking for my money back.

I've already transferred my insurance and paid the extra premium and I've also transferred the numberplate to one I had on retention, whatever I do now is going to cost me money. Right at this moment I'm at my wits end and this whole saga is making me sick to the stomach.

It's easy to blow this sort of thing up in your mind to make it seem like the worst problem ever... I do this myself far too often. Go and talk to someone in charge and let them know you're losing faith in their progress and that you MAY need to take action against then unless they can properly explain what's going on.

The driveshaft does not normally need to be removed, but sometimes the manifold can be hard to remove due to seized/sheared nuts/bolts and maybe they need a bit of extra access?
