egr valve

I have an 07 2.2 ictdi 168.000 miles i am currently suffering the dreaded stalling /hesitation.
my egr valve is showing 40 % open at idle i have cleaned valve/inlet manifold and so on.
no dtc's car is very hesitant.
any suggestions would be very helpfull

If you have access to the HDS diagnostics equipment then you can run a egr test and determine the health of it.

If you've cleaned it, and it seems free to move, then I'd look at the actuator.

sorry i took so long to reply,but i have solved the problem.
took inlet manifold off in desparation only to discover in was completely stuffed.
took about 2 hours of stabbing with screwdriver to loosen as much as possible.
then soaked for 1 hour with foaming ovencleaner.
results spotless manifold &guess what, no hesitation or stalling what so ever.
egr sitll shows 38% on torque but honestly guy's car is brilliant.
