Engine cuts out

Hey guys...

really confused about this one... recently i changed the oil and oil filter in my car... all fine a little ended up on the flexi pipe but that burnt off quite quickly... but it would appear since then my car has become mental...

i can start it drive normally but for no reason it will cut out the immobiliser symbol flashes, i stick it in N and turn it over and its all good... it does it when stopped or driving... and is happening more and more often... ive had the SRS light pop on once... and today on the drive home the engine cut completely pulling out of the works car park... started fine... then cut out while at 35mph and immediately restarted itself... so i am a little bit bemused... any advice?...

Im sure there was a thread very similar to this in 6th gen faults.It might be worth having a search there mate.I would say though it might be your battery as this can effect the immobiliser if there is insufficient power in there.

Sounds like a worn ignition key barrel.
There has been a few problems mentioned on here somewhere.

Id say it was the ignition barrel. This is a known/common issue for the 6th gens. Not too expensive to fix. I can't remember a price though, sorry. Think it was about £80 though.
