I have a 2006 Honda Accord Tourer. The engine has started emitting a brief but rough growl at the point of starting and stopping. It lasts no more than a second. The car is driving fine and there are no warning lights. It started a couple of days after I had the fuel filter changed (Honda original part). There was no problem when I drove away from the service centre so not sure if there is a connection. Any suggestions please?

Just to wrap this up, the noise that had sounded like an engine growl evolved into a rattle and it was caused by a loose cat heat shield. The dealer wanted £200 to replace it but a local bloke managed to get the rusted bolts out and got it fixed for £20.

I've got similar effect at point of engine start/stop but is not like rattle...It is shaking of whole engine for a second. Is it possible to be the similar as yours (something loose) or is possible to be flywheel problem?
What are the symptoms of beginning flywheel fault?

when revving the car ( on free) does it rattle ? (if yes most prob its the flywheel)

No rattle when reving, just shakes when start/stop engine. The car is 80K miles on the clock, probably is to early for flywheel problem, but who knows...
I compared this with the same car but it was 140K miles and shook at the same way. Is it normal for this engine or probably is engine mounts fault?
