Accord tourer diesel
Gents,

First post, so be kind :)

Have a 54 plate diesel tourer (160k miles) with a broken oil pump chain. fortunately happened as car was started, so no permanent engine damage due to oil starvation. As I'm well aware of the timing chain issues, intention is to do both at same time. Quote from Honda dealer including injectors (should they break them removing them) was over 4k inc.

This makes it prohibitively expensive unless I do it myself, which I'm more than capable of, worked in vehicle dev and motorsport for many years.

My question is, has anyone on here taken a lump out of one of these? I've had a look at access to do the job in car but reckon it'd be more grief than it's worth. Besides you can't get the sump past the subframe without lifting the engine up anyway.

Many thanks

Welcome Robin your a brave man to take on a job like this.Someone will no the answer to your question in sure.

Thanks Brett

I don't see the mechanical work as an issue, I'm fully kitted up with engine crane and stand, well once I get my 300zx block out of it! But some engines are just a pain to get out, such as the 300zx. So thought it best to pick peoples brains and learn by their mistakes, rather than cussing and using lots of expletives, whilst finding out myself :)

Hi, once you have the subframe off the engine and gearbox is quite easy to remove. Although you dont have to remove the engine to carry out the work you need doing.

Let me know how you get on,

Chris.

Thanks Chris

If you're talking of removing the subframe, that implies to me, dropping the engine out the bottom? which Isn't an option on my drive :) I was going to lift it out, so shouldn't need to touch the subframe?

Cheers

Robin
