Hi all

First post new member. My 2004 tourer is excessively draining the battery( brand new battery) to the tune of a 0.25 drain over a normal 0.5. We conducted a battery drain test and located a component on fuse 7 (labelled: back up)in the driver Cabin as the source . This controls the tailgate , central locking and alarm. Car starts fine with fuse 7 pulled so not an immobiliser issue we think. There has been a short beeping sound in the cabin when starting the car which leaves me to suspect the alarm/ security system is the cause. I have no use for the alarm as now one is likely to want to try and steal it, but would like to leave my car with the central locking and tailgate ready for use.

Is there anyway to just unplug or isolate the alarm. Any one know where it is located?

Any help greatly appreciated

I've got the circuit diagrams here (not diesel)

I don't think you can isolate the alarm as it's an integral part of the Door Multiplex Control Unit, and I'm not sure if the door locking will work if you disconnect that unit. The siren itself is in the rear offside boot area.

This parasitic battery drain is a known problem, I get it in my car sometimes, but fortunately for me the drain is not always there.
It probably is something to do with the alarm system, also the IMOES unit

Fuse 7 list is here
