P0087 means that the fuel rail pressure is low... this is usually a very high pressure (up to 25,000psi, or so) so it doesn't take much of a leak to spray out a lot of fuel. The fuel is sucked up from the tank, so leaks on the low pressure side of the pump draw in air, rather than leak out fuel, so the leak is almost certainly on the high pressure/output side of the pump, probably on the metal line between the pump and the fuel rail. If you remove the plastic engine top cover (4 x 10mm AF nuts... don't drop the washers!) and start her up you should easily spot where the leak is occurring. If it's a joint, then try tightening it up to make it stop (worked for me) or the pipework should be available from Honda for a reasonable cost if it won't stop leaking. If it's the pump that's somehow damaged, then bad luck as they cost a fortune! If it's the fuel rail that's damaged then I do actually have a spare one that''ll fit your car. I think it's most likely a leaking joint... have you had any work done recently?

thanks i hope so not looking forward to it being the pump. not had any work done recently. how much are the fuel filters? I am at work not off until wed so cant try anything until then. fingers xrssed not a big job

30 odd quid, but depends where you get it. This is the one you want.... http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genuine-honda-accord-diesel-fuel-filter20032005-p-745.html and don't be tempted by any other makes/models of filter (they often cause problems). You don't have to buy it from Honda (will probably be cheaper from a Bosch stockist), but make sure it has that exact Bosch part number (click photo in link to enlarge). I don't think your problem will be the fuel filter, but it won't hurt to change it... it's a bit tricky, so search the site for a how-to guide specific to the pre-facelift model.
