What's new

Front lower suspension arm

Just changed the front drop link on my car.
Fitted a lemforder one as the previous ocap one failed after 12 months.
Annoying thing was I thought I had the car all prepped for the winter and it's MOT this month back in the autumn when the weather was still good.

It waited till the depths of winter for a part to fail. Fortunately it's dry on the ground today, despite there still being snow on the roof of the car (which all came in through my window when I used the wipers on the test drive)

Thanks to my compulsion to copper grease everything, it took longer to Jack both side up and remove the o/s wheel, than it did to change the link.

Should be all good for the MOT test next week now. Time for a cuppa in the warm.

I gotta go out in a mo and swap out my battery, just started to fecking rain grrrr. Previous owner has a poor quality replacement in there doesn't look like it's been in there long but its cca and ah are not what they should be, problem is the battery tray in the 2.4 Petrol is not very big so can't even put a high power spec one in there say from a Diesel model (used to do this on older Vauxhalls and worked great, put like an 096 where an 065 went, lasted for ever!). Best I could get for this one was a Yuasa 5053 430cca/48ah without breaking the bank. Unless of course anyone knows how to get a larger battery in the standard tray on the 2.4 without butchering and modifying stuff........... Spent the morning making a memory saver lead (yes diode protected!) to hook up to my jump starter 12v lighter output which will either connect up to the fuse board input in the engine bay using ali clips (really easy to get to) or the OBD2 socket.

Post Hijack lol

Sounds familiar. My wife's civic has a Bosch battery in it meant for a diesel discovery. 75ah as opposed to the usual 45. Spins it over a treat in this cold weather.
