Hi guys.
so strange one. 55 plate diesel tourer. Occasionally (not all the time) I get a rotational grinding noise below 30 mph. It speeds up as speed increases. Then above 30 mph it goes.
Or it might not be there at all..
Any ideas??
Was thinking a shoe delaminated? ? Or something in the drum??
Has anyone had anything similar??

I found a hard pebble lying on the caliper, for the life of me I cannot think how it held on in there, it sounded like the suspension was about to cave in.

I get this after the car's been standing a while, but it quietens down after a bit of a drive... I have ***umed it's corrosion at the disc edge catching the pad?

As Jon said it's probably just surface rust on the disks.
When you drive the car a few miles it will wear off.

Thanks guys.
It's definitely not surface rust.
I only say that because I've done 500 miles in last two days and was still doing it on way to Newcastle after a 240 mile round trip. Dropped the govner off at home then drove home and it had stopped. It's strange.
Grinding clunky sound... rhythmical.

I'm thinking it's time to replace the rear disks as they past there best.
Trust me to have a special problem.. haha

Probably a stone in your metal disk shield then.
Take the wheel off and inspect for this as its will make a harble noise iv had this once myself.
If not then your caliper could be sticking
