Hi everyone,my car is a 2.0 vtec se exec auto 2001.I noticed today a problem with the tickover at idle, its going up and down from100rpm to 500rpm and feels as if its about to cut out.If I touch the throttle it returns to 500rpm then starts going up and down again.Does this mean a dirty throttle flap or something else?Any advice? Thanks.

Probably you have a leek in the vacuum system. Search any vacuum hoses that could be either disconnected or faulty, leaking.
Also, it wouldn't harm if you clean the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV), which is located behind the throttle body(TB), and the throttle butterfly. After all, to get to the IACV you have to remove the TB, so might as well clean both.

EGR plate maybe? Always worth a clean anyway.
