Hi. I'm from portugal and recently I upgraded from 2003 maps to 2008 maps. I have a 2004 Accord exec navi and would like to know how to use/put the most recent maps and change to better graphics the menu display. Anyone who made it (advices)? I know my unit it's a non voice recognition but's possible to use the maps of this version?
Regards.

Sérgio mate what version are you using. For your car it should start with a number 2 and for the facelift a number 3.
You can still get the latest addition for your car like a 2011-2012 but im not sure of the number version after the 2.

The Original DVD has the V 2.03 APN2-23103 and the last update was V 2.08 APN2-57101. What you mean with the 3 is the firmware (flash version) of the head-unit?

Facelift cars have voice activation and their update DVDs begin v3. Prefacelift cars update DVDs all begin with v2. I've just upgraded my prefacelift to v2.11, which I think is the latest one available. You can't update a prefacelift car with any v3 DVD. As far as I can tell their is no firmware update, just updated maps, the graphics, functions etc. are all the same after updating as they were before.

Hi. Yes, you're right. I updated yesterday to v2.11 and beside the maps no other changes viewed... I made a update by a recorded DVD and sometimes I note some difficulties on the DVD ROM reading. In forums I read that varbatin was the advised to use in this units, What do you recommend? According to visual on GPS I saw in forums too some "hacks" like change the start-up and some other things. Never tried but I'm curious about it. For me this is new since I bought my Honda (Dec. 11). Until this time my knowledge to modern cars was almost nothing because my other car it's 99% mechanic (Peugeot 205 Van, 1.9TD IC). Hope we can change some ideas "here". First off all thanks for your attention.
Sérgio.

Some people have managed to hack the DVD to change things such as the start up screen. But this then means you have to use a copied disc in your DVD player which is a bad idea as it causes the DVD player to burn out prematurely.

Sérgio.

I've read that copied DVDs can cause problems with the DVD units, and if the disc is copied to use the best there is, Verbatim is often mentioned. My car had a copied disc in it when I bought it (a Philips disc) although it had been printed with a genuine looking Honda label. Anyway, I had a couple of disc read errors before I upgraded with a genuine disc and none since (fingers crossed). In general I don't thin original equipment sat navs can be hacked much, most of the hacking seems to be on aftermarket sat navs where the operating system isn't locked down, (many seem to run Windows CE). Personally I'm happy with it as it is!

Hi. Thanks for all answers. I'm happy now. Burned DVD DL Verbatin Printable and fast upgrading and reading now. No errors. Update made APN2-5B101/Honda Sat Nav Disc DVD v2.11. Thanks, many thanks.
