Hi guys long time reader first time caller =).

I'm looking to replace the front door speakers (hard) and the shelf ones (easy). The only problem is how am I meant to fit an aftermarket speaker without a frame?

The front speakers according to this is 5.25in but from my investigating they are 7in including frame (see pics).

Also I broke the clips off the back.

I have searched ebay for a frame with no result. Any help from someone with experience would be greatly appreciated =D.

With CJ on this one, plus the front door speakers are the weak point from what I can tell on my PSS. A good.solution would be welcome, and probably paid for....

As far as I know 99% or people have stock set-ups due to this issue until and unless you are prepared to cut the door card and make a custom frame.

Both 13cm (original) and 17cm speakers will fit perfectly without having do any cutting. I have 17s in mine

I didn't take any pics of the install, let me see if I can find my old thread on this.

will be great bud,as i too soon will be attempting on changing the front spaekers(since im on a install roll lol  )

I cant remember how thick the spacers were (this was 2 years ago), I think just about 10mm

. But they were just perfect- and cheap too. No problems with clearance at all. I think the only problem with MDF is 'damp', but some people use it.
will you have clearance if you use MDF as the speakers will be close to the outer door skin..

You know the adapters mutsaip bought fits a civic, so do these so I winged it and bought them.

If it works I will take a few pics for everyone to see .

Thanks everyone you were most helpful

keep us updated, if they do fit then i will get my JL audio speakers out the loft and fit them :D

I changed all my speakers years ago got adapters off ebay and fitted clarion components, real worth while upgrade. Sadly when thaoc went down all that info and diy was lost :(

Those will definitely do the job. Just remember to use a drill bit smaller in diameter than the fitting screws- for a tight fit. good luck.

Monks, did you also replace the tweeters too- if so, was it easy hooking them up and gettting them to sit in the holes. The space between the screen and dash is kinda tight, and originals sound good so I never replaced them.

I did have the tweeters replaced as well but having looked at the job I bottled it and got my friend who fitted my parrott kit to do it as its his day job. Its a fair few years back now but I remember he said it was a complete PITA job due to access and getting them fitting right. I fitted the components up front and he did the front tweeters and for the rear doors I just used the mid speakers and ditched the tweeters.

Overall the sound IMO is alot better but of course limited by the OEM headunit and amp sadly but Ive done the whole ICE thing back in the day and Im not going there again. Oh just remembered what did make a difference was proper sound proofing of the doors, couldnt be bothered to do the rears but improved the fronts.

out of interest, why did you go for such a small speaker? you can fit 6.5 inch up front in those new mounts.

I did not know that thehole, I just got the size in the item description, oops :(

these are what your looking for i believe:

Since I started this thread. I just want to clarify.

I bought Honda Civic 01-05 front speaker adapters. They are identical to the ones in the euro accord.

Below there is a couple of pics showing what theyre like outside and fitted.
However long the images stay up.

bringing some old topic from the dust:
does anyone know where they sell these adaptors for 17cm speakers? I'm not able to find them anywhere, there are some for accord from 2008, but not sure if they will fit the 2003-2007 model.

Sorry to bump, i'm after more bass, those Vibe V3 6x9s, did they drop straight in without any problems? My local Halfrauds have them in for not a bad price and had them up on show, the sound quality was outstanding.

Hi
does anyone know if it's door panel off or just pry out speaker grill to get to speakers on a tourer rears
they really do sound awful and need swapping asap

Thanks

Hi
You'll need to get the door card off but it's quite easy really. I reccomend some trim removal blades which are very cheap off eBay. I bought a set recently for 4 quid to whip my stereo out of the dash.

I fitted new rears to my tourer this morning wanted 6.5 but could only get 5.25" in the civic adaptors
may have to look at retro fitting some larger ones at a later date
I did notice the originals were molded to the addaptors I removed

Lucky enough had some old alpine ones in garage

Anyone got any suggestions of a good quality speakers for the front with a budget of around £80
And of course better for the rear at approx sane price

cheers
