Good day to all. I have a 2000 1.8 engine accord and also suffered a balance shaft seal failure (topic: 3 litres of oil lost in 1.5 miles). I replaced the seal, installed the retainer kit, and replaced both timing and balancer belts. After putting all back together I fired up the engine but nothing, only the starter doing its job. I went to undo everything again making sure i didn't miss anything important. Camshaft and crankshaft are on tdc so I check the distributor and the rotor is pointing on the 1st spark plug wire. Next thing I have done was to check the fuses but all were good, the fuel pump is making a noise so I decided to change the battery and tried to start it again but still no luck. I have left it for few days due to work commitment and today I've started all over again, undone the timing and balance belt then replaced it back making sure all are on tdc. I have not unplugged any wire connections except for the battery before starting the work but I double checked it anyway. The car still didn't start so I have done a compression test on a cold engine and the initial results were saddening. 3 of the cylinders read 90 and 1 was 60, at this point I'm losing hope thinking that I bent some valves. I am not a mechanically inclined person and the thought of changing a valve and other things involve with it I think is beyond my ability. Any input from you guys will be much appreciated just in case I missed or done a mistake during the process. Thanks for reading my first post.

Have you checked that there is spark in the spark-plugs?
Did you noticed, if the engine was TDC when you removed the belts? If so, the belt didn't slipped, so you couldn't have bent the valves.
Also, in the bottom of the engine, behind the crank pulley, there is a crankshaft position sensor. It might have been damaged if there was oil in it... If so, I guess there would be no spark in the spark-plugs :unsure:

Good morning to all. This morning i manage to start the car , what a nice thing to start a day. I change the spark plugs coz they smell of petrol and I read somewhere about flooding it. It cranked for sometime before it fired up but the thing is that the battery light stayed on on the dashboard. I pulled the the plug and use a paper clip to check some codes but somehow the engine light just stayed on for a long time and didn't blink. I left it for the mean time and dig in to it later at least the car starts. My question now is about the compression results seems being low. The engine run as it was before I change things around, maybe I need to give it a good service and checked compressions again. Thanks for reading my post.
Good day to you. Thanks for the input but it looks like I flooded it with petrol so I changed the plugs and started in the end.
