After some horrible grinding noises from the original power steering pump in a 2002 Accord with the F18B2 engine I did a complete flush ( using genuine Honda PS fluid ) of the system, and installed another ( used ) pump. Worked fine for a little while, although there where a "whine" sound from the start. Now it sounds really harsh, especially when turning the wheel. The rack itself is good, and there are no leaks from the pump or the rack/pipes.

So, I have decided to get a new PS pump. The part no. is 56110-PDA-E03. Lings Honda has the pump, but is rather expencive...

So my question is: Has anyone fitted another PS pump to this engine, i.e. from another Honda model, that would fit? There are plenty off Ebay, but none with the exact part no. for the F18B2 engine. I could get another used one, but then I might end up in the exact same situation again.

Just thought I'd ask in case anyone has done this before, or if anyone knows where I can get a new pump for a reasonable amount of cash.

Thanks!

Do you consider recondition the old pump? I guess all parts are available from Honda.

Yes, I have considered a rebuild. Just don't know if I have the spare time to do it ;) But I guess I could give it a go.

Right now I'm changing the rear hub/bearings, putting in new rear calipers ( the old ones where totally destroyed - the holders I managed to save though ) along with new discs and pads.

I'm also trying to fix a water leak in the trunk. Not only does it leak through the rear light clusters - I also suspect it leaks throught the hinges on the tailgate ( the car is a hatchback ). I have stripped the car completely inside

So I have some work cut out for me the coming days.
