Hi,

Got a problem..

Out of the blue my nearside rear power window stopped working, as it stopped working in the down position I took the door apart and put juice direct to the motor which closed the window no problem up it came, swapped the door relay no change, checked fuses they look okay.

After a week I noted the central locking on that door is not activating, and the alarm is not arming... ( no flashers on arming).

I can hear a click from the door when I attempt to put the window down using the main Driver's switch.

For some unknown reason it starting working one morning last week and then gave up the ghost again.. I swapped the main driver's door switch.and the actual door switch..nothing changed!

Any ideas.earth?.....

Could it be the switch which indicates a open door? that would stop an alarm arming etc.. hopefully something simple.

Would have to agree. But as CJ has said, is the battery a newer one?

Many thanks for your replies.....

I replaced the battery with a new Bosch about 6 weeks ago...

My gut is that all the issues are tied together as in an wiring earth. the light comes on when I open the door which suggests the earth is ok on the door switch.

I have a spare OFFSIDE rear door (don't ask) so I have access the spare door switch, relay and window motor.
Having messed with car electrics, albeit, HUs, CD Units etc I do know some basic stuff but this has me beat, although I can help thinking it's something simple!

Thanks again,

B

Hi,

Update for anyone interested.

Spent hours over the last two weekends trying to trace the fault, also noticed my hatchback wasn't locking on remote,

was about to give up and actually pay someone to tell me what was wrong ( this does not sit well with a Scotsman, believe me!!)

Anyway, checked again that I wasn't getting any juice to the door, decided to check the fuses again, was pulling fuses at the Passenger's side box when I
noticed a bit of movement on the top loom connection suggesting it wasn't in properly....one push and a click later it was in...and low and behold the bloody thing works!!!

I must have left it loose when I replaced the Multiplex months ago and it just gradually came away!!

Thanks for the previous replies!!

Glad you got it sorted in the end, one of the most annoying things, to find it's something simple, when you've gone all over the car looking for the fault. At least you know everything else has had a check over now!

Simple fix is always good albeit abit annoying when you rip everything else apart first

great, i have a simmiler problem the near side rear door wont unlock/lock on the centrel locking some times it will tho. i have no problem with the windows. will start with start with that.

cheers

thanks for the update barry boy! good to no you got it sorted :) was enjoying the thread.
love the fact your a scotsman (like me) but live in essex :D

as for you Stuie, have you done any checks at all?

i would start by checking if its locking on super lock (press the lock buttom twce within 4sec)

if thats all ok i would start to test at the door lock its self. checking to c if its getting power.

hope to here back soon m8
