Not sure if this is the right word! Getting a very slight pushing/pulling sensation with the foot on the throttle. If cruising along giving no gas, there's no hesitation or surging, but if I'm going up a hill and giving it a little (say to keep at 60) I feel it most prominently. It isn't noticeable if I'm really giving it the beans on the dual cabbageway in acceleration.
Anything I should be looking at? EGR is clean (quite recently), clutch replaced 18 months ago.

Sounds like fuel surge...Start off with checking injectors (send them off for an ultrasonic clean while they are out, costs nothing), then start working back through the lines, into the fuel filter then pump.

Actually thinking about it, try a fuel filter first as they are inexspensive and easy to change. If it's still doing it, then take the fuel pump out and check if the pickup is blocked.

Either way, sounds like a fuelling issue.

OK cheers, something to start on. Only been noticable since cleaning out the EGR valve and plate and worry that I've damaged an injector. I'll replace them I think as I still have a donor car to borrow bits off! Did the fuel filter last year.

Finally managed to get this sorted today :) Swapped out the following with the parts from the donor (a 60,000 miles car as opposed to my 130,000 mile one!)

Injectors & the large seals
Fuel filter (new)
EGR valve and gasket (Cleaned the other one but surprised to see how much more carbon had accumulated on/in it in the few months since doing it!)
Whatever the little thing was that went from the fuel rail to the throttle body. Black plastic with a cylinder connection, electrical connection and 2 rubber pipes just behind fuel rail)

One of the larger seals (injector into fuel rail) seemed very scaly and white compared to the others, so I suspect this is where some air might have been ingressing if that's the right word!

Much better anyway, only an hours job and has made quite a difference.
