Accord mk7 i-ctdi
Hi,
I've been chasing a knock on my accord i-ctdi mk7 for some time. I happens when taking up power and coming off the accelerator in 1st & 2nd. So far I've replaced the inner and outer cv joints, drive shaft bearing and today the upper engine/gearbox mount. However the knock is still present. This leads me to presume (I'll check in daylight) that it might be the steering rack mounts. Has anyone done this or have a guide, as the last few bits looked straight forward and were absolute pigs to do.

When I had a knock it was the upper front control arm

I have this knock as well. I thought it was the DMF, because I cannot find anything that has play on the outside.

It definitely sounds like you’re narrowing it down correctly—if the CV joints, drive shaft Rolling Mill bearing, and mounts are all good, a worn steering rack bush can easily cause that kind of knocking under load changes. Replacing the rack mounts usually involves supporting the rack, unbolting the old bushes, and pressing in or sliding the new ones carefully, making sure the rack stays aligned so the bearing Factory in the steering column and tie rods aren’t stressed. It’s fiddly but manageable, and checking everything in daylight, as you said, helps catch any misalignment that could transfer extra load to the bearings.
