Strange idling issue

I've had a couple of problems with my Accord in the past couple of days unfortunately guys.

However, on Monday morning when I started the car, it wouldn't idle correctly and constantly jumped from 1k to 1.2k RPM. I drove to work with it, and every so often it would judder like it wanted to stall, and also when I lifted off the throttle in say, 4th or 5th gear, it would judder forwards like it would if you were lift off suddenly in 1st.

My mechanic has put a new battery in and states the car is running fine, as when I went to start it the other day it was having no luck, but his Solex reader is not picking up the issue relating to the bad idling. Has anyone else had this kind of issue? I can't think of what it would be.

He has said he can put new spark plugs in, but if that isn't the problem, it might mask the original issue.

Check if you have any vacuum leak, any vacuum hose that might have came off...

If it was a spark plug issue I would expect a permanent misfire. Where as your ecu is searching for a balance (incorrect fuel/ air mix) which I would say is either a faulty sensor, blocked injector or as skhell stated a vacuum hose leak.

I'd look for the simple things first ie vacuum hose before starting to change random parts in the hope of getting lucky.

The mechanic is doing it all for me. He has said this guy has a more up to date reader and will be going there shortly to use it.

He did say the spark plugs had a leak or something, the term he used was "bleached" but I don't know if that's one of his Murray-isms or a genuine term!

My initial thought was a faulty sensor. Nothing under the bonnet looks untoward, everything seems tight and tidy.

I rang him before and he said the car is driveable now that the battery has been replaced, but it's still not idling properly (although he did state that it was nowhere near as bad as before).

IACV????

Possibly - I've looked into that and my mechanic is going to plug it into the diagnostics again - it was jumpstarted the other day and it's been said that jumpstarts can throw everything out of proportion and give the wrong codes as a surge is sent through the electronics.

He's taking it Tuesday to get sorted again, but I think it may well be the IACV. The car will start and drive fine, it's just the idling issue now. Fingers crossed it'll be fixed and I can finally enjoy my VTEC :)
