USB device error - Honda wan £650 to fix

I've got an ES GT, and up till a few weeks ago the USB was working perfectly, playing iPod's, charging my phone etc. Then one day I got a fault message saying 'USB device error', so I took it to the dealer and they've just called to say that a 'USB adaptor unit' needs changing - at a cost of £650 odd.

That's a lot of money to listen to my iPod! Anyone else had this, is there a DIY fix I could try by finding a second hand unit or cheaper one elsewhere?

Wowser thats pricey, hope mine doesnt go. Is that Blade Honda in Gloucester?

Its no.22 on the diagram £534+VAT, presumably under the centre console somewhere.

Not exactly helpful, via aux I get no iPod control via the built in system.

Yeah that's the one. Yes, Blade Gloucester. I might ring up and ask the manager to see if there's any good will they can do if I book in for a service or something.

If I get time I'm going to remove some of the trim and have a look for anything obviously wrong, if not I'll pull the unit out and send it for repair.
