Hi guys,

Last winter my Accord tourer was a nightmare in the snow and ice so i decided to buy some winter tyres as i had a spare set of wheels to put them on. I had them put on last week and the car brove just fine but i decided to check the tyre pressures and they were a bit high. I let them down to the correct pressures and now it drive terrible! the front keeps sliding and i keep spinning the wheels off junction!! Does anyone know what the tyres pressures should be? My tyres are Nokian W+ 225/45/17's

Thanks in advance

Tim

Somewhere in the mid 30's I think...I would have thought you get better traction with softer tyres?

Increase the tyre pressure 4psi from what they are now, that will sort it hopefully. That will bring the middle of the tyre up to the same level as the outer and inner part of the contact patch providing equal loading across the tyre. with a 225/45/17 on winter tyres should be looking at 34-38 as a rule of thumb.
