Reverse camera

I've put another picture: http://img853.imageshack.us/i/89857094.jpg/

Yes I have another RCA long cable with yellow male RCA connectors at both ends so yes this should be the video one like you said.

And there is another cable with red male connector at one end and black/red wire to the other end . The red male connector fits to the red female connector cable (which come out from the camera) .
So yes , it makes sense, this one should go to the reverse power which will power up the camera when engaging reverse gear, like you said.

Thanks Daivd :)

Yeah thats the other part of the lead (power feed for camera), when I wired mine up (a different camera as I have a tourer) I earthed the camera earth to a bolt inside the boot lid using a ring connector and then the red wire I spliced into to the +'ve of the reverse light.

Just dont make the same mistake as me and put the ignition in position 1 so the stereo powers up then stick the car in reverse and wonder why nothing happens! Took me ages to realise what I was doing wrong, even checked the cable I'd made to make sure that was ok then I finally realised I needed the ignition fully on so there was power to the reverse light..... a massive DOH DOH DOH moment I can tell you.

I see , thanks for the tip David :)

No worries mate, have you made the cable up yet? I made mine as per Ezhiks post #20 on this thread Clicky works a treat.

Not yet, I'm planning this days to go out and find those connectors and stuff I hope I'll find them then I will try to build it myself :)

Good luck keep us posted on how you get on, the bits are cheap and its a great mod to do.

Thanks mate, yes I'll keep you post it .

hi David,

I went out to find some connectors and all I could find was this :

http://img535.imageshack.us/i/20110317142748.jpg/

This white conector is 2cm long and has 8-pins .

Is it this the right connector?

Cheers,
Dinu

Yeah mate thats the one, you have to cut it down a little as its too big. If you look at the thread on the TSX forum and the pictures at the start of this topic you'll see what I mean.

Too big ? I was afraid being too small :)
I did read the post from tsxclub but didn't figure it out what need to be cut, but I guess I'll figure it out when I will try to fit the connector .

Yeah I used a stanley knife to trim it down just go through the posts on here before you do it thats all I did.

Finally managed to build the cable and installed the camera.
I'm very pleased with the result, looks like an OEM install :)

Hi.
My DVD looks different from behind.

My question is if I can to connect the same camera as you have into my DVD?

would anyone be interested in building me a cable please?

willing to pay aswell as postage, i've got the camera just need this cable for the nav drive.

would be much appreciated.

Just wanted to know if anyone has managed to get the ore facelift sat Nav DVD to accept a camera input?
This is something I would be interested in.

Apologies for the thread resurrection - just bought one of these cameras for my 06 CDTi saloon but there are no fitting instructions with it.

It's obvious how to fit the camera unit itself and how to wire in the feed for the "replacement index lights" but there is also a ground and live wire for the camera. My questions are:

Do I use a permanent live feed for the camera or should I use the live feed for the reverse lights?

Also, once I have the camera wired in is it then as simple as pluging the signal wire into the back of the sat nav (DVD drive or head unit)?

Hello Pal

Don't think its a simple as plug and play. I believe you need to create a connector etc and it only works on the facelifted models. There are other ways to do this but you need to get an interface

Sorry to bump an older thread. I have just bought a 2006 i-CDTi Saloon and I am fitting an aftermarket Head Unit.
Can anyone tell me which Reverse camera would fit the Saloon the best? There are so many on eBay, and they have
different housings etc.

Top left or bottom left types?

or maybe something like this?

then there is this slightly different sized one

Apologies but just don't want to buy the wrong one & have hassles fitting it to my 7th Gen Saloon.
Cheers in advance for your help!!

I fitted mine this week, bought it from ebay for $20 shipped. I got this one

I fitted the one from Pyle made for 2008 Accord (code PLCMHONDA).
Found it with a big discount (from 85$) to 19 $ on US amazon.
The quality of the image is superb (OEM like) - I had a non-name ebay camera before from ebay and the quality of the image was very very bad.

You can find it on your UK amazon, too

Hi Dinu,

Did you buy it from Amazon US and had it delivered to RO? It won't let me select a UK shipping address. Thanks

No, someone from US bought for me and sent it to me. But you have the UK amazon - a bit expensier but probably with shipping from US you are getting closer the UK amazon price ... I don't know.

Looks like this one looks awewome, is it possible to put a pic on of the camera quality on-screen? Mine is ok but has the resolution of a 2001 nokia phone :(

Just to help if anyone else is looking at this - you can get the same camera as the two Amazon links on eBay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/390805856046?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108&ff19=0

As said on Amazon the US one is $20, but can't be posted to the UK, while the one available in the UK (from the States) suddenly jumps to £46, plus £29 Postage!!

The eBay one is the same item, but for £19, plus approx £22 postage & Import.

£41 vs £75....

I know what I'm buying :D

Hi, I have one that fit the saloon, if you want it, could let you for £12 posted, recently bought the 6 in1 GPS flip up on dash unit, but my car is tourer so won't fit, I gone for other one instead, hasn't been used so it's new condition.
The one similar to the top left by the way, I believe the camera will fit straight into the number plate light housing without drilling, and it come with LED light itself too..
