My local Honda dealer - Springfield Newcastle - has offered to fit rear parking sensors to my Accord Tourer for £150. Which is nice of them. I can't recall having reversed into anything since 1976, but then my memory isn't what it was. However, nor are my neck muscles, so is it worth getting parking sensors fitted, and is £150 reasonable (an exclusive half-price offer they say :) ) for what Honda are likely to fit?

When you can get some sensors for £14 from ebay and use a very good guide on this very site to fit them yourself you would be mad to pay that.

As Neil said mate.If your handy with the tools do it yourself but TBO for Honda prices its not bad at all.

I wouldn't be without them on my Tourer, they are a god send and make reversing alot easier than it would be without them.

Fitted some the other day very easy, but £150 does seem reasonable for a dealer price. If your handy you can get them done yourself for under £15

As with most things in life you get what you pay for. The previous owner of my car fitted them cheap £15 sensors in my car and 6 months into my ownership both front and rear sensors died. £150 from a main dealer is a good price and they will be guaranteed to last a lot longer being from Honda. But, if you weren't thinking of having them fitted before the dealers offer then why consider having them fitted now. As you said you don't need them so it just seems like spending £150 for the sake of it. A deal is only a deal if your saving money on something you were going to buy anyway.

I have fitted cheap ebay sensors to the last 3 cars i have owned and never had a problem. In fact i found them more reliable than the standard sensors on my 318se which used to have a fit when it rained. many members have fitted ebay sensors and none have reported problems. You don't always get what you pay for. An old member on here fitted genuine Honda sensors to his car and commented how the Honda sensors were no different to the Ebay ones he had on his pre facelift Accord. Even the reverse tone is the same.

I have used this type many times and had no problem. Had them fitted to my old Accord for 2 yrs and had no problems and they worked perfectly right up to the day i parted with the car.

Agreed you shouldn't have reservation about the ebay ones, they'll be as good. Just like hid kits really.
