Hi guys,

Sorry for the help request, but the missus told me the alarm went off a few times today (about 8). Sometimes she caught it and pressed the unlock button and then locked the car. Sometimes it went off by itself.

I have unlocked the car using the key fob, but cannot arm the car using the key fob. I can lock the car using the key in the barrel. The little red LED by the wheel is not flashing, so I ***ume the alarm is not activating.

I am not too concerned by this, as I will look over it on the weekend. However, any ideas on why the fob will not arm the car?

The missus does not want the alarm going off whilst she is driving or in work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Gazz. :D

Hi there, firstly it’s worth checking the condition of the main battery, alarm going off is an early warning of this in most cases as the alarm system is very sensitive to voltage fluctuation, think this topic has been covered so have a browse, hope this helps

Thanks mate.

I have searched the forum, but cannot find this exact problem. Basically I cannot lock the car with they keyfob. I can lock it using the key in the door, but just hope this will not activate the alarm, it does not seem to activate as I cannot see the flashing LED light within the car.

I just don't want the alarm going off randomly, and not being able to stop it.

I will replace fob battery, as well as the car battery this weekend.

Has the remote lock / alarm-set worked up until recently, or has it always been this way?

Are any of your interior lights on, and is the bonnet & boot shut? Don't think the car will remote lock / alarm set if it thinks something is open. If once it's locked up and armed it will alarm if it thinks something has opened -perhaps dirty contacts or corrosion from the recent weather on a pin switch? (I only suggest this as my Mrs' Merc boot wouldn't open this weekend for the same reason -hopefully now resolved)

Have you a blue bottle buzzing round in there? Locking the car with the pop-up-pin on the drivers door (don't lock your keys in!) sets the alarm without the ultrasonics. Doing it this way may help rule something out?

No prob's, just replace the fob battery as quickly as you can and if you require a radio code make sure its at hand, not all do though

Hi Matt.

Its the missus car she has just informed me of the following:

Alarm sounded alot today but the remote fob allows us to unlock all doors and stop alarm.

We cannot lock with the fob asvof today. Had car for a couple of months and worked fine.

She said that therr has been a red light on the dash intermittently saying boot not closed properly.

So ***ume car will not arm if it thinks boot not closed. However dont know why the alarm would have gone off today?

Cheers

Ps no other lights and no blue bottles.
