suspension question

Hi guys have seen this talked about before but cant find where.
When changing your cars suspension, what other parts would be advised to change also.

I recommend new dampers and spring in one go, putting on new springs on stock dampers is not the best for longetivity, the dampers will eventually cave in.

other parts to consider are camber arms, and drop links, rear sub frame bushes.

that about covers all the suspension, worth stating that a proper suspension setup makes the car handle like a beast.

the downside is country roads, I am in Ireland now and i have to crawl about 10mph (or less) on many roads, just not possible to drive fast on some roads here.

when you do suspension changes get a full 4 wheel alignment also its pretty madatory.

thanks so much for the quick reply that really helps me out a lot and you don't have to tell me about the roads but hey will keep chucking money at the tax man for F*%K all :D

Hi Dave when you say changing the suspension is this for a drop or a new stock set up?
 
Hi Dave, as Eric has said, the shocks are always a plus. And what Brett has asked what elements of the suspension are you looking to swap?

looking to replace shocks and springs for more stiffer ride and improve handling and a nicer drop.
Looking at either the bilstein B12 pro-kit setup
or koni with H&R springs.

Just wondered if im replacing the shocks and springs what else would be a good idea.

Well the springs and shocks are pretty much self contained, no much else you'd have to do. There are other components involved, but I wouldn't go replacing them unless you need to. Typical things you'll find wear out are:

1. ARB bushings
2. ARB droplinks
3. Compliance bushings
4. UCA bushes

etc, etc.

Get the new springs and shocks fitted, get a proper alignment and go enjoy! :)
 
No problem. FWIW on mine I used H&R springs with Bilstein shocks. I popped a review up here:

It's for the tourer, but might give you some idea.

For the mid-range tyres, after fitting Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrical 2's to my car, I wouldn't go elsewhere. Not sure what they cost in the UK, but I get them for €90 / tyre here. I tried Michelin, but didn't like them.
 
iv just got my CL9 dropped on Meister R coilovers, springs compressed to 8" all around, damper adjusted to 16 notch which is half way, height adjusted to preference... still running 18"oem alloys and ride seems pretty smooth.
