8th Gen Windscreen Clips

Hi all

I lost a windscreen side trim on my 8th gen 2012 Accord during a motorway journey in high winds (the wind got underneath it and ripped it clean off!). A quick bit of research on the net revealed that this is a known issue, however according to my local dealer, Honda had "fixed" this issue by the time my car was built so they couldn't fix under a recall. Despite my protests that they clearly haven't fixed the issue, the dealer wanted £250 to replace this strip of plastic!

I wrote to Honda hoping for a gesture of goodwill (as the cost to them would be minimal), but their response basically said "your car is now out of warranty, why would we care?". Very dissappointed with their attitude! Doesn't encourage repeat business. They then had the cheek to send me details of offers on new cars, as my pcp was nearing the balloon payment.

Anyway, I've managed to source a replacement from a scrappy, but I'm missing the clips to secure the trim to the a pillar. Does anyone know where I can source some reasonably priced replacement clips? I'm keen to avoid giving any more of my hard earned cash to the Honda dealer! A google search lists hundreds of various clips, none of which look like the ones I actually need.

Any help most appreciated!
 
One of mine was prone to coming off, in spite of supposedly having the correct clips fitted. I just glued it on -it's not budged since.

The rubber glove kept the duct tape off the paintwork, whilst the white foam block kept pressure on the trim whilst the adhesive went off. I wasn't worried about any tape residue on the glass -that's easy to remove.

After cleaning all the crud that had accumulated under there with an old toothbrush and dried it off, I used a small blob of polymer sealant at each of the clip points ( https://www.screwfix.com/p/evo-stik-sticks-like-sh-t-sealant-clear-290ml/87228 ). I didn't go mad in case I ever need to remove it in the future.
 
I knew I would find a thread about this on TA!

Cleaned and polished the car today and the reg caught in the top of trim on the nearside and popped it off, the trim had been sitting proud for months and seemed to be just about held on.

I getting that Evo glue this evening and will glue it back in place.

It stayed firmly attached until the Acord and I parted company about this time last year. Hopefully it's still ok for the new owner ;)

Hi all, to continue with this repair, I got it finished today. Images below show the glue I used EvoStick White Turbo is the one I used, sets in 15 mins and fully cures in 24hrs.

I used some rolled up bubble wrap to keep the gorilla tape away from the wind deflectors and paintwork.

I'll know more after my motorway trip in the morning!

I had the same, I used Tigerseal. Trim is still attached and holding on fine.
 
@Gozzy. I find the reply from Honda a bit disappointing like you. My Accord is of 09 vintage and was subject to the recall and work carried out accordingly. Sometime later prior to my ownership the screen was replaced and both trims just bodged back on with glue. about two years ago in the hot sun both started to come away and one did come off. It was then clear that the locations mounts for the clips had been broken and clips missing! went to Lincoln Honda and had a good chat with the service manager half expecting to pay full price for rectification. He contacted Honda UK and about a month later with several photos Honda agreed to replace the trim as a token of good will, cost to me £60 as part payment for labour.

thats decent, pity about the bodgery in the first place.

Well my bit of gluing did the job, the trim is still attached!
