Hi, just discovered this forum. I LOVE Accords and am on my 3rd, I current have a 2001 Honda Accord 2.0i SE Executive and I love it. The car drives sweet as usual, however, there are two things that are bothering me :
1) I suspect that the bulb has been removed from the Engine Management light that should light up orange below the speedo. When I turn the ignition on, the other three lights come on (oil, key etc) but no EML. I suspect that this has been removed to hide problems, the main one is....
2) The car starts first time every time. When driving off, as the engine is warming up, the revs are higher than usual, which is normal. However, when the engine reaches temperature, if I stop at some lights, the engine will stall. It will re-start again immediately, I drive a few miles, then stop and it will stall again. Only after say 10 or 15 minutes will the car stop stalling, although the revs do drop to around 750 and and bounce back up again.
Me thinks the EML was remove to hide this, which is a smidge naughty. The question is :
1) I am clueless regarding car maintenance. Is it a relatively easy job to replace the bulb in the light on the dash?
2) I think the problem may be the Idle Air Control Valve after looking around the net and requires a clean. Where is this on the car and is it easy to remove and clean for an absolute beginner? Would this fix the erratic stalling?
Oh, I've also noticed that during this initial period, when the wheels are turned say lock to lock, this also causes the engine to stall? Presumably the revs aren't high enough or something? This stalling issue is a problem as obviously I lose power steering and braking ***istance.
Any jargon free advice and help is much appreciated.
Thanks
