Would my engine block have it written anywhere exactly what engine it is? I know the block was changed when the rebuild happened and I want to know if they just put a newer 2.0 in there or a 2.2
 
eeerrr, shouldn't it be in your log book and declared to the insurance company?
 
i would think there would be a mark somewhere, perhaps some one more knowledgeable will help more.

is the chap who did the work not reachable?

I spoke to him once but have since lost his contact details. Didn't think to ask it back then
 
like i said on your other thread mate, its on the gearbox facing you if you are looking into the bay. Its near the left primary manifold pipe, it will have ingraved on it F20B6.

F is the series
20 is the engine size
B is the head type
6 is the variant

Ok. Forgive my lack of knowledge (still learning) that is part of the engine block that would have been replaced? I ask because if not then it would have the old info on it

I know I know I'm useless but we all have to learn somewhere, right?
 
Each engine has a unique engine number. This is stamped onto the engine block. If the block has been changed then the engine number will have changed also. If you look at your log book then it will show the engine number on there. This needs to correspond with the number on the engine. If it doesn't you need to update your log book with the new engine number.

if the whole engine was replaced, then the number on there now will only show what the new engine is. If the swap was done like for like, then it should just be a f20b6.

I would expect that the same series engine has been put in otherwise the mechanic might have had to change everything that connects to it to get it to work.

But even though the engine series is the same the engine number won't be so you will still need to update the log book with the new engine number.

F20B6 is the engine that was in the 6th gen Accord 2.0. The 1.8 is F18B6. The onther two variants are the H22 in the ATR and i think F23 in the ATV.
