Him,

Sorry if this has been gone over previously.

Just pulled a Cel light this afternoon, my OBD thingy says it's 1491 which I understand is the EGR valve.

As I want to fix this over the weekend and probably buy one from the scrappers on SAT morning, can someone give me a basis blow by blow account of how to change it..keeping it real simple + plus any other advice.

Or Can I clean it..with what?

Thanks,

B

Hey dude.

There's a how to on here somewhere. It really is a VERY simple job to do and will take no longer than 45 mins.

You might not even need a new one. Just take it off and then give it a clean out. There will be lots of carbon built up in it, but that should cure your problem. After cleaning and re-***embling though it's a good idea to reset the ECU by just removing the earth on the battery and letting sit for 5-10 mins.

Hi Barry

As Simon said it is a really easy job. I took me 1.5 hrs on my 1.8 but I believe the EGR on the 2.0 is much easier to get at. Try this before replacing the EGR. Honda wanted €450 off of me to replace and a good clean with carb cleaner did wonders. The car felt so much better to drive afterwards. Just don't forget to clean the plate and the ports too. cleaning the EGR valve its self is not enough. Mine were so bad I could stand a screwdriver up in them

Hope it helps.

Cheers Andy.
