Hi guys first post so be gentle, the car Accord 1.8 is saloon 1998.
Ive done a search and found a person with the exact same problem as me, only his solution was simple, mines not!!!!!
Ok the problem. My indicators dont work, they did then they slowed down then packed up, when I press the hazard light switch I get a steady red warning light on the dash but no green indicator lights or clicking.
On some violent wagging of the indicator stalk the indicators started to work then stopped.
I have checked the fuse/fuses,
the bulbs work as when I activate the alarm the relays work and all indicators flash as they should and all warning lights on the dash illuminate as they should.
On taking out the 7.5amp fuse on the drivers side and putting the multi meter in the fuse holder I get a circuit, when I operate the indicator stalk I still keep a circiut. But when I operate the Hazard light switch I get an open circuit.
I have changed the indicator stalk and the hazard light switch but still no working indicators. (both off of fleabay but I would of thought at least one of them would be ok)
So has anyone of you guru's have any idea as to wat the cause of the problem is and also the cure, because at the moment I am at a total loss, and hate to say it but it might have to go to a garage.

Sounds like a duff flasher unit, but I'm not even slightly familiar with your car, so hopefully someone else can point you in the right direction!

I'd say the same flasher/indicator relay.

Sounds like the relay has packed in
Ok guys you all seem to say the flasher unit/relay, now as the indicators work when I use the alarm I know the relay is working, now I know that the alarm is on a different circuit.
Now to my knowledge the relay/relays as there are two in situ next to each other are on the drivers side hidden away where the fuses are ie you take off the blanking plate on the side of the dash, hope you know where I mean, when I operate the alarm I can feel one of the relays operating, what does the other one do?
Also where is the flasher unit located, i,m having a right mare trying to locate it and find a replacement as everyone ***umes that I want a flasher relay!!!!!!!!
I am determined to fix this problem, so more help is so greatly appreciated, cheers guys

I'm not 100% clued up on the 6th gen but the alarm will flash the indicators and probably have its own relay for this, in my opinion i'd still try a flasher relay.

Ok dave, I know what you are saying, the two flasher relays I have swapped around and still no indicators or hazard lights BUT still they all work when I operater the alarm?

Guys new update, right Ive changed the indicator stalk, the hazard light switch and the flasher unit/relay.
And still no indicators or hazard lights.
I have done the tests, ie continuos ground, bridging the contacts with ignition on and getting hazard lights to turn on, then bridging the other contacts where the flasher relay lives and operating the indicator stalk, this gives me steady indicators.
All tests have come back with positive results saying that there is no problems with the system or the components, BUT still I have no indicators or hazard lights.
When I operate the hazard light switch the relay will click, but will not re-click if you see what I mean, oh and no lights illuminate either.
Any ideas at all guys?????????????

This to me indicates you have a faulty Relay. Do you get a constant light when you turn on using the stalk? If so then either 1 of two things. Relay or stalk but my gut feeling is relay. Can you confirm what you have done with the relay, did you get a new/second hand version?

I would get someone to operate the indicator stalk and then for you to listen to the relay and see if anything happens there.

Hope that helps?

Shabz, the relay is a new part, lucas, not original honda fit from honda but when I took out the original it was a lucas, go figure, anyway the relay themselves hav,nt been tested, but As ive tried two now I cant see both being faulty can you, the tests I have done have all been on the back of the fuse box where the relay lives, I have a constant earth, I also have battery power/voltage to earth, I have bridged across the terminals and operated the hazard switch and got the lights to illuminate, but not flash as obviously the relay is not in place, then I bridged across the other way on the terminals and opertated the indicator stalk and once again got either side to light up, I,m now thinking to get another stalk and hazard light switch as the ones I got were off ebay and as we all know there is no garuantee that they will work. Even though I have done the continuity tests on both hazard and stalk switchs and both have come back good and ok.
Other than that any body else got any idea what it might be

Ok gys I,m now hunting around for someone with an Accord who I can buy a drink for the lend of their hazard warning switch indicator stalk and relay, so I can then illiminate which part of mine has gone **** up, ie I will swap their bits for mine one at a time and test them, then obviously re-fit to their car. This has to be the only way now, as the costs for the components is huge, £85 for hazard warning switch, £61 for indicator stalk, £29 for flasher relay, mega expensive to buy all at once and I dont know a shop that would let me buy each and return after fitting if it wasnt the bit I needed.
