Hi

I want to buy a second hand Honda Accord (7th Generation)
I am aiming for a HONDA Accord 2.2 i-CTDi (estate) but I am confused about the performance differences between models!

Autotrader seems that
A) the "2007 HONDA Accord 2.2 i-CTDi Sport" will do 0-62 in 9.3seconds, with at top speed of 122MPH.
however that

B) the "2005 HONDA ACCORD 2.2i CTDi Executive 5dr" has much worse acceleration (0-62 in10.4 seconds) but confusingly has a higher top speed (124 MPH) !
To add to the confusion, both models seem to have the exact same horsepower and torque!

I want something with goodish/reasonable acceleration. Which models should I go for?

Where can I find a good list of the performance differences between different Honda Acccord diesel models?
- 2007, 2.2i CTDi Sport - 9.3s / 122MPH
- 2007, 2.2 i-CTDi Sport GT - 9.3 / 122MPH
- 2007, 2.2 i-CTDi EX - 9.4s
- 2007, 2.2 I-CTDi EX 5dr Diesel Tourer - 9.5s / 122
- 2005, 2.2i CTDi Sport - 10.1s / 124

With thanks

John

P.S. What it the technical term for bleepers that help you reverse? Dont any of these things have them? (!)

The differences are infinitesimal... biggest being between saloon and tourer. I'm not actually sure if there are any.

You mean parking sensors by the way, and they were an optional extra.

The 7th gen brochures ate here to download.

Yes mate  but I'm not on the bath yey ;)

The executive will contain more extras and this will make the car heavier hence why there is a difference on paper.

But a second hand car will never perform to spec. And 124mph as a top speed? I passed that barrier and was still in 5th

Obviously that was on a track or a german auto bahn lol

also guys the performance changed with the facelift with a 6 speed box.

It probably isn't an issue John because if you want performance you can always get an engine re-map.

The facelift definitely goes over 130 mph, and it was still pulling strong. :) Don't know what the top speed is though, thought it was about 145-150mph.

Guys please take note of TA rule 4. Illegal material. No illegal material or post will be tolerated. If you’re not sure don’t post it! Some examples would be: - bragging about street racing, speeding or posting about copied sat nav DVDs.

There will be a slight difference in kerb weight between saloon models but can't see there being enough of a difference to warrant an extra second to 60? Mine was definately quicker than 10 sec before faddy remap and now is even faster. As far as I know, other than trim and cosmetic differences, the engine and drivetrain of all facelift (i.e. 6 speed) diesels will be the same. Think it is probably just down to inherent inaccuracies in the autotrader system.

Yes I was slightly suspicious about the Autotrader stats. I wonder where they actually come from? I mean surely they wont have actually tested every single varient of every single model...!

In my experience with all the models sharing the same engine & having driven both saloon & Tourer models then the saloons are all very similar...

The tourers are heavier beasts- thus they are slower

Any performance defecit is easily rectified with a remap though...
