    Diagnosing Aircon Problems

Hey Brian, excellent topic! :) I'm in need of your expertise.... 2.0 petrol, getting slightly cool air, but nowhere near to proper A/C temps. Can hear the clutch engaged either using the A/C button, or using a wire from the +ve terminal. with the engine running and A/C set to Lo, I...

    MP3 player aux connection

in a word, yes! :) It still works perfectly well for the money paid. As mentioned above, you do sometimes get some electrical interference, but it's only seems to be occasional.

    MP3 player aux connection

You need to start by taking the gearlever surround off (pull by putting your fingers into the gaitor and lift straight up), disconnect the heated seat switches and unscrew the lever itself. Next up is the ashtray section. there are 2 screws, one at either side (left/right). Remove the ashtray...

    Rear Crash Bar?

If the rear crash bar is that bad, check out the front.... my 54 plate tourer had a hole right through the front one - Just rust and cobwebs holding it together!! I've changed it over for a decent 2nd hand replacement, but haven't dare take the rear bumper off yet...

    Tourer roof water leak!

Finally got around to checking my tourer out last week. The water was getting in through the rear doors. The waterproof membrane had detached itself from behind the door card right in the middle near the bottom on both doors, handily just where there's a hole that water could drip straight...

    Tourer roof water leak!

I've just discovered that my rear footwells are wet today... From reading the various posts on here, I'm going to give the roof rail channels a look first. Interestingly, my wife's Jazz suffered from water running into the spare wheel well, which was getting in through the roof channels...

Front bumper bar - any difference between diesel/petrol?

Only difference is the diesel version has what I can only presume to be a vibration dampener stuck onto the front of it. 10 mins with an angle grinder soon got rid of that! All good now.

I'll be able to confirm tomorrow... :) I've ordered one from a diesel via a breakers. Looks remarkably similar via photos, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Front bumper bar - any difference between diesel/petrol?

hey folks, took my front bumper off this evening to get it ready for a re spray... In doing so I've discovered that the front bumper bar has completely rotted thru on the passenger side!! Need to replace it asap, so I'm trawling through eBay and breakers sites trying to find one. Anyone know...

Reg 2004 2.0 Tourer Exec Bought (by my sister) in 2011 at 64k miles Bought by me in 2014 at 89k miles, now at 96k I'm keeping it as long as possible.... I chose this car for her to buy in 2011 on purpose, knowing that I'd get first refusal when she decided to change... :) Just need to sort...

    regas air con DIY?

I've done it myself a few times now on various cars - always worked a treat! If you keep your eyes open for deals, you can very often pick the cans up cheap (autumn/winter usually!) and get free air con cleaners as well.

    Have you got tinted windows?

I've just had my graphite tourer done - limo black on rear doors and boot windows. £160 all in! Very impressed with it so far, can quite happily leave things in the boot without the load cover closed now. Will try to get a picture up..

Stereo to 3.5mm plug adaptor from ebay, do they work ok?

To question 1 - yes, they plug into the same place as the xcarlink. Question 2 - I can't answer as I've never seen an xcarlink... hopefully someone who has will be along shortly!

Newbie questions (2.4 Tourer, 7th Gen)

Freddofrog/Brian is correct - it is very difficult to say what the issue is without looking at the actual car with the fault, removing trim panels and other bits n pieces.. Best course of action would be to review all the threads on here - then strip the tailgate down to have a look at the...

Newbie questions (2.4 Tourer, 7th Gen)

on the tailgate issue, if it's closing on the button fine but not opening, then it's most likely the struts that have lost their pressure. As a quick test, try to open the tailgate using the button on the key - if you hear the lock mechanism opening and the tailgate tries to open, give it a wee...

    MP3 player aux connection

Got the cable routing sorted last week - haven't taken pictures yet unfortunately, but I'll get round to that at some point. I've ended up routing the USB cable into the centre pocket under the armrest. The cable is long enough to reach without any need for an extension. To get it into the...
