    Silicate coolant

It's a case of your mileage may vary. My dad had his radiator replaced about 18 months ago and it was refilled with whatever the garage deemed suitable (local chain). It's been fine ever since. As for my car I've no idea what was in it before I had it changed. Again there were no issues but I...

    Silicate coolant

There's no need to add water as it's pre-mixed. Just drain the old stuff, flush it through if you're able to and then add away. Be sure to fill the reservoir too (easier if it's out the vehicle to see the markings). I think I paid about £15 for mine when I did it. For that price it's not worth...

    Silicate coolant

Couldn't say for sure but just go to your local dealer and get a 5 litre bottle of Honda Type 2. Just ask for coolant and that's what you get. Pre-mixed and perfect for the car. Cheap enough too and saves all the bother of worrying about compatibility.

    One year on...

At the end of this month I would have had my Accord for a year. It's previous life was as the occasional runabout for an old boy around Salisbury barely covering 1,000 miles a year for a couple of years. It came with full service history (stamps and invoices) and paperwork near enough back to...

    Alpine EZi-DAB/PURE Highway 300Di fitting

So a few weeks ago I won an Alpine Ezi-DAB unit in a give away when buying some bits for the car. It arrived yesterday and my initial thought was to fling it on eBay and stick a few quid in my pocket. However, looking at the unit it does look half decent and would also do what I have the Grom...

Climate control lights and changing the colour of dash bulbs

Bit of a bump for this thread after seeing a new similar post. I did go back and fiddle with the fog, cruise and hazard switches. It was quite easy swapping the LED's I had from the cheapo T3 holders they came in to the Honda originals, just a little patience needed. Unfortunately It seems I've...

    Disappointing Dash Lights

I'm ***uming you've used LED's. I changed mine to white LED's and have done other cars as well. The biggest thing to be aware of is if the lights are filtered in any way (luckily on these Accords they are not) and the design of the LED's can have a major effect on how well they illuminate...

    Rust repair needed

That may be an option, but my car's Pirate's Black which isn't a common colour. In fact I don't think I've seen another one and I've driven a good few at work.

    Rust repair needed

That's not bad. would certainly be worth seeing about the other minor bits at the same time then and maybe seeing if the swirling in the rest of the paint can be dealt with too.

    Rust repair needed

Evening all When I got my Accord last October I knew there was a minor bit of rust on the bottom of the driver's side rear door. I thought nothing of it as it was very minor. I had a look the other day while giving the car a bit of a check over before the MOT comes round and it seems it's a...

    No problemo. Happy Honda'ing :-)

Climate control lights and changing the colour of dash bulbs

The fog, cruise and hazard switched have two bulbs each. The fogs and cruise have one white for illumination and one green (might be filtered) that comes on when you turn them on. The hazard switch has two whites I think it was. Headlamp leveller is just one white. Most of these bulbs had...

Climate control lights and changing the colour of dash bulbs

I might take a look at the climate and radio one day then. I could do with fitting up my Grom Audio unit direct to the head unit instead of running a cable back to the boot. I first changed mine when the odometer bulb failed a while back. The LED's I bought were a SMD (surface mount) type that...

Climate control lights and changing the colour of dash bulbs

Indeed Many cars of this email used coloured filters or caps on the bulbs themselves. The only ones on these that seem to are the odometer and indicator tell-tales. Different colour/shape/style LED's will illuminate the cluster differently. For these something with a fairly wide spread seem...

Climate control lights and changing the colour of dash bulbs

Not sure about the climate control unit, two of the button lights in mine recently died and I've yet to investigate. As for the main binnacle that's an easy one once you're in there. The lights for the speedo and rev counter are just T5 bulbs and there are no filters so you can replace them...

    Failed emissions test

I know the 2.0 F20B6 has two sensors. One on the down pipe accessed from the engine bay and another further along the system. The ESM shows a different setup for the F18B2 and F18B3 systems and things seem dependant on your vehicle's spec. As you say you've got the #1 sensor in the tail end of...

    Failed emissions test

The hole in the cat is for the #2 Lambda sensor isn't it? If not connected or properly fitted it'd usually cause the engine light to show. If there's two holes in it then it could be the wrong model perhaps. Any chance you could put up some pictures of the cat? I'm sure someone with a better...

    Quite pleased :)

Funnily enough I don't find the fuel usage too bad and my previous car was a 2002 2.0 DTI Astra Estate that got 50mpg (65mpg on a real long run) compared to the 30mpg I get in the Accord on the same journeys. Doesn't seem to vary much even when I get bored occasionally and give it the beans...

    Quite pleased :)

They're hard to kill. And at such good prices for decent cars it's hard to see why people pass them up. Before I got mine in October it'd barely done 1k miles/year for a couple of years. Since I bought it I've done around 8k. I was a little unsure it would take to such abuse after not really...

    Just got myself a bargain!

That's a darn good price for that range. Always been happy with the Pionner stuff, even the crusty 90's tape unit I was given at one point to replace a broken factory unit. Now with the Bose kit in the car I've got the Grom Audio adapter hooked up in the boot where the changer is and a £100ish...
