    Bumper paint

I have just bought another accord. There are some scuff marks. A can of spray paint cost about £9. I have some clear coat left from the last one. Mine seems to be a non common colour - Magnetic Blue, so will have to get a can mixed. A professional body shop charges about £250 a panel. Not...

    Just bought another one !

I have sold my trusty W plate SE (Balkai Green) to some friends and now bought another one (mid metalic blue). Its a 52 plate SE with the new bumper design and silver strips instead of fake walnut. Got it home - oh no - whining noise when I turn steering wheel. Just checked - PS fluid on low...

    Bumper paint

Yes just repaint. i would not bother with primer - takes a lot of paint to cover it. Just rub down with wet and dry until smooth, mask off, can of spray paint to cover with several coats. Then cut it back and finish with t cut and polish.

    "v" type

The other advantage of having an early one is the road tax advantage. Before March 2001, it is £126/ 6 months. After March 2001 its £156/ 6 months. I am on the look out for a 2 litre W/X Type V with sat nav. Anyone know one for sale?

    cam belt change

Thanks Andy. I am looking at a Type V tomorrow ! The road tax though made me smile - £285 - a third of the value of the car. Crazy world we live in.

    cam belt change

Hi I have my eye on another Honda. 1) I was wondering what the cam belt change interval was 2) Is it a DIY job ? 3) Anyone know typical charge at a garage? Ta

Is the 7th as reliable as the 6th?

So nothing conclusive then, but with a slight leaning to the 6th generation Honda. I have had mine almost a year and very satisfied with it - absolutely nothing has gone wrong with it, and its 14 years old. However I take your point about maintenance, and this one of mine was very well looked...

Is the 7th as reliable as the 6th?

On the 8th gen forum, someone asked the question "Is the 8th as reliable as the 6th" The general consensus was no. So logically we now need to ask: "Is the 7th as reliable as the 6th" ? What do you think ?

Valve Clearances - tools, parts and info need

Thanks This looks like a job on my list of to do. I am pretty sure my car has not had it done in the last two years. I just replaced the gearbox oil for the same reason.

    Hatchback ? and facelift ?

Thanks for that. I just compared two on ebay and there is a very slight difference to the bumpers - so small you would hardly notice. The grill looks the same to me. Also it looks like they changed the electric aerial for a small one, top of the rear window. On the saloon, presumably at the...

    Hatchback ? and facelift ?

Hi Quite new to these cars. 1) My Accord is a hatchback - however I have noticed comments that imply there is also a non-hatchback 6 Gen ? Is this correct? 2) I have also seen comments about "facelift" for later cars. Is this correct too - and what were the changes? When were they...

DMF and/or DPF problems on the Honda Diesel

Ok thanks I made a mistake above - of course I meant to say "I quite fancy a 7th g diesel" - especially the estate model. So its just the 8th G that has DPF problems. Is the DMF quite sturdy on the 7th? The BMW DMF does not seem to give problems - so it is possible of course - but VW and...

    Fuel Consumption

Thanks for that. That's encouraging that the 2.3 are not much thirstier. Sometimes a smaller, less powerful engine, does consume more fuel since it has to be worked harder: I suppose it depends how you drive. It makes sense that there is not much difference. These days it the power output...

DMF and/or DPF problems on the Honda Diesel

Hello I now own a 6th gen petrol, but in recent years have owned three diesel cars: Peugeot 406, Rover 75, Skoda Octavia. I loved the fuel economy of a diesel - I used to get 60 mpg out of the Skoda, but have been put off them due to the problems with duel mass flywheels (DMF) and diesel...

    Fuel Consumption

Hello I was just wondering about fuel consumption on the VTEC engine. I have a 2 litre, and on a long run using cruise control, I get 40 mpg (well 39.4 actually, brim to brim, but say 40). I think I get around 34 round town, but never checked it that accurately. I was wondering about the 1.8...
