Hello

I was just wondering about fuel consumption on the VTEC engine.

I have a 2 litre, and on a long run using cruise control, I get 40 mpg (well 39.4 actually, brim to brim, but say 40). I think I get around 34 round town, but never checked it that accurately.

I was wondering about the 1.8, is it significantly better, about the same, or worse? Can anyone give figures please for a manual transmission.

Also the V type 2.3. ?

I really quite fancy a V type, they look very classy, but I worry about the fuel consumption. Can anyone give figures for a manual version of the 2.3 type V?

Thanks in advance

1.8's are pretty much identical and the 2.3's are about 1-2mpg worse in all areas so its negligable.

Believe it or not, the most efficient engine is the H22A7 found in the Type-R. I average 35-38mpg and can get 42.1mpg on a run according to my phonr app.

Thanks for that.

That's encouraging that the 2.3 are not much thirstier.

Sometimes a smaller, less powerful engine, does consume more fuel since it has to be worked harder: I suppose it depends how you drive.

It makes sense that there is not much difference. These days it the power output that is significant rather than capacity. The power outputs seem to be
134 / 145 / 152 bhp. for 1.8 / 2.0 / 2.3

I seem to get around 34mpg on average for a tank, but thats doing a lot of granny driving, Lot of start and stop and some motorway
