    K20 series engines

Are they running on the right grade oil? Also the valve clearances need checking at 75k miles or 6 years to check there isnt too much clearance.

    Seized near side caliper/piston

Car in today for the brake work. Got a Civic hatch 1.6 iDtec. Nippy car, feels a lot more nimble than an Accord, the 1.6 iDtec is very torquey. Nice short throw gearchange also, good quality materials inside, DAB radio etc. You do seem to sit quite high up, as the fuel tank is under the front...

    DPF What is it?

Lot of debate around this topic, whether its legal or not. At the moment the MoT wont detect if the DPF has been removed or not. If I had a diesel and removed the DPF I dont think I would declare it unless I had a performance enhancing remap also. I guess if an insurance company really wanted...

    Seized near side caliper/piston

This is quite a common problem on the 8th gen. There's a chap over on Honda Karma who has paid £850 for genuine disks pads and a rear caliper! My £250 sounds reasonable in comparison.

    Spark plugs

They are Iridium as only meant to be changed every 75k miles. Cox have them for £62, expect HH would give you some discount off that also. http://www.coxmotorparts.co.uk/genuine-honda-accord-20-ltr-petrol-spark-plug-set20092015-p-1323.html Fairly easy to do, just unplug the coil pack on each...

    Seized near side caliper/piston

Honda reckon mine is completely seized solid. They spent half an hour trying to free it off. So looks like no option but to replace it. Found the caliper here also...

    Seized near side caliper/piston

I've got this now, my N/S passenger rear caliper is sticking, wheel is hot, you can smell burning etc. Car is 7 years old 75k miles. Looks like this is a weak spot on the Accord. Honda have quoted me £90 for a refurb caliper, £160 fitted, plus new rear pads £105.

Can you help a newbie select the correct wheels and tyres

Just measure the width of your existing wheels rim to rim in inches, and that will tell you what they are. A site like www.mytyres.co.uk is quite good for alloy and tyre deals also.

    Should i buy a 150k+ 8 Gen Diesel

How about a new Civic on finance, they're giving them away at the moment. £2-3k deposit, use the rest for payments. Get a new car, no repair bills, 3yrs warranty etc.

    Should i buy a 150k+ 8 Gen Diesel

Whichever way you look at it 150k is a lot of miles for a car. I'd be wanting to see bills for new brakes, suspension, maybe even clutch. Might have been a taxi with those miles. Check the front end and windscreen, probably very chipped. Think also where you are going to sell it. I reckon that...

    corrosion on rear arch

Think its been done over on Honda Karma by the founder CJ. Big job, fairly pricey also, unless you can get cheap bodyshop labour.

Where to get a new starter motor from?

There are firms who recondition them, either yours, or the exchange yours for a recon one. Have google. Might found a local motor parts shop would offer this service. Found this also: http://www.startermotor-alternator-store.co.uk/honda-accord-starter-motor-227-c.asp

    Auto box noise

I've had a 6th gen auto and my current 8th gen auto, they both do this slight whining when you come off the gas. Must be a Honda auto thing. Just make sure the fluid is topped up and it gets changed at the approved interval, which is usually 6 years/75k miles.

    Manual transmission fluid change

No code at the moment, just ask for Gareth or Lee in parts, and ask for type accord discount.

    smell when heater on

There is a pollen filter in the back of the glovebox which needs changing annually, they get pretty mouldy and full of leaves. Its at the back of the handbook shelf. You can get carbon filters that stop some of the smells. If your car is a diesel, has it got the manifold crack problem, letting...
