so how much of your Accord is an off-the-shelf design

Genuine is just one bought through the Car manufacturer, it will be stamped as Honda, Toyota etc. OEM obviously as the name states is the original manufacturer that made it, same part but no car manf branding on it. Good example is my dad has a Kia, which uses a Hyundai engine, when I first...

so how much of your Accord is an off-the-shelf design

True they don't redesign just for sake of it, but there is still element of redesign because it still needs to fit in line with the product, some parts can be universal, e.g. a radiator fan and other smaller periphery parts. ABS unit is actually interesting as most tend to be off the shelf, but...

so how much of your Accord is an off-the-shelf design

I think the 'off the shelf' term is very vague, it suggests Honda have just gone through a catalogue and picked a few ready made parts and ***embled them onto a car which is not the case. They tend to have a close one to one relationship with vendor, yes a lot of periphery parts are manufactured...

    Heated mirrors

No known common faults, so start with the basics like the fuses. all Accords had always on heated mirrors as standard.

fuel pump for my accord 1983 model?

Depending on where fuel tank is you can access it for example by having to take seats rear seats off, thats how it is on 7th gen Accords. With fuel pump I would be very surprised if universal one worked properly or aswell or even howit will fit, as the fitting will be custom. Have you tried...

    6th Gen 2.0 SE Executive or 2.3 Type-V

Performance is generally similar, the 2.0 is more revvy, 2.3 lazier but has bit more power & torque being bigger block. The Type V was the top spec version and has more kit and somethings are uprated, nicer leather and I think the suspension maybe softer.

    H22 conversions

Are you doing this yourself? If so crack on, otherwise its waste of time, better off just buying an Accord Type R. I can't comment whether the looms etc will work with the H22, but you can drop the H22 on either car with additional work required in other areas. There are differences in specs and...

New exhaust for a 1999 3.0 V6 Accord, any advice?

I would recommend custom made, it will be cheaper too and get everything to spec and maybe choose one with a nice raspy sound to open up the V6.

    F20B6 Distributor Cap

Anyone deisgned for the car will fit. I would recommend you just buy from Holdcroft Honda for the original one, which should be around £20 with club discount from memory, part number is 30102PAAA01 I think. Otherwise you can get this Blueprint adh214220 which will fit yours for £25, but...

rattle sound, could it be vtec?

That's not the VTEC, as VTEC doesn't operate at those revs at idle, it doens't look like an ATR either, no white dials or layout of ATR dials. It sounds like something is vibrating so first thing check is things like exhaust mounts, heatshields etc all fine. Gte a stethoscope and find out where...

    Silicate coolant

Providing you still have OEM cooling parts, e.g. radiator, there are various aluminum parts in place, Honda coolant has the right additives inside for example to protect against corrosion.

Risky to renew automatic gearbox oil ?

It does have some truth, have a search on the forum, a user called BlueVTEC who works at a gearbox company made a few good points. If you have no problems with the gearbox then don't change it. You won't even be able to change it all, you will need to do several flushes to get all oil out and...

    Auto Gearbox Issues

I would say it is, particularly if its got metal shavings inside, sounds like its slipping. The autobox in this generation weren't the strongest and improper change of gears (moving into revsrse whilst car still moving) would lead to premature wear of internals.

No, only use Honda Type 2 coolant. It's cheap and lasts a long time too.
