    Rear heat shield

I didn't but it would have made it easier. I have an ***ortment of wire brushes to fit into my cordless drill to remove the majority the rust and a scraper/screwdriver for fiddly bits. Then paint with rust converter and then some gloss black paint. Not sure yet about removing some parts for...

    Rear heat shield

I did a trip to Cardiff and back on Saturday and noticed a metallic rattle on accelerating from standstill. Stopped at a gas station and discovered the rear heat shield was disconnected from its fixings. Fortunately it couldn't fall out so I completed the trip and got to fix it today cos it's...

    DPF clean

I feel for you Bertie and you say the fellow that sold you the car was okay but I aint so sure. Anyways if you are to recuperate your money the cheapest option would be to get the dpf removed and mapped out. Then you can sell it on with a clear conscience knowing the car is problem free and the...

    2010 DPF light

It wouldn't surprise me if the dealer cleaned the dpf prior to the sale as they don't do many miles before they clog up again. Best bet is to have it removed and egr blanked and mapped out. What mileage does it have?

    Highest Mileage

Mines on 201167 now, did an oil and filter change yesterday aiming for every 6k using 0w30 A5/B5. I've also replaced 2 rear calipers and brake fluid last year and both upper front control arms replaced. Still does 50 mpg and sounds smooth. A puff of white smoke is apparent on startup in this...

    AC Compressor faulty

My cars aircon never worked since buying it 5 years ago. I just live with it, haven't tried a re-gas so can't help. how often is it needed in our climate.

    Was this a good buy?

I wouldn't use thicker oil, especially in this climate. The engine needs all the help it gets from immediate lubrication. I use a 5W30 in mine and seems to work
