Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

Never tried turning VSA off. Will do that tonight when heading to work and see if pedal feels different. When I got my brakes bled by Honda, tech brought the drain reservoir out and showed me that old fluid hadn't been changed EVER. It had a lot of contaminates in it and mould in the fluid...

Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

Ok ok it's fairly obvious my diesel Accord isn't being used for LeMans Endurance. Its personal preference having braided lines. I felt it helped with my MB6 civic. I drive hard on Scotlands country roads and like to have cheapish mods to support my spirited drive. Would Honda not bleed the ABS...

Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

Cheers mate. Looks like it could be down to the pads not handling the weight of the Accord!!!!

Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

With our mods then brakes should have a good feel to the pedal. Good pedal = confidence. Do you think the brake master cylinder could be faulty/letting fluid past the seal?

Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

Basically, red stuff pads fell apart! I will take pads out and check them also. Heard also that the Honda/normal brake pressure bleeder sometimes doesn't get all the air out. And that there might still be air in the ABS unit. Remedy? Activate ABS a few times to pop any air out ABS unit...

Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

Thanks for the link! I went through x2 sets of front Mtec discs on my old civic under warranty. They are crap discs IMO. I went with Black Diamond as they were great on my civic MB6...married with Green Stuff pads too. No issues. Is it worth re-bleeding my brakes and fitting braided lines...

Brake pedal poor (upgrade & dot 5.1)

Hi all, looking for some advice. I have recently fitted Black Diamond 12 groove discs and Green Stuff pads all round. Honda replaced fluid with Millers Motorsport 5.1 (i supplied/they bled/fitted). When you brake hard, the pedal is softish but when you pump it once and re-apply, the pedal...

How is the setup now? Knocking completely away mate?

BC Racing - BR Coilovers - 2003 Accord Tourer, 2.4

Nice write up. Finally had a chance (and remembered) to find this! I personally wont be buying BC again as conflicting info from instructions and BC UK staff, when i sent mine back for checks/warranty. Mine still knock slightly (but not on big potholes) and have tried and changed worn...

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

Does sound like he knows what he is doing. Well i have learned the expensive way as my car has been to 3 different companies for arch work and suspension setups! At least next time, i will know who to take it too. Look forward to the pics of it after ;)

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

Good luck with the suspension, looks like you've done homework on who to do your install. I went with a reputable company in Scotland that build and set up rally cars for the last 30 odd years...... ....they messed up my car as he couldnt get his head around the word 'stanced' :(

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

In ref to the 2-3mm setup from factory....BC UK told me that none of their coilovers come set up and that needs to be done after fitment. So nothing is black and white

Accord 7th Gen brakes update: All OEM solutions

Agree. The cost of buying 2nd hand calipers AND carriers is expensive as breakers know their worth. When you buy them, you have added cost of refurbishment as there old calipers no matter how good they are.

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

If i soften the shocks up the less banging so it aint that bad.....except that i prefer the suspension set to hard ;) I can live with it!

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

The spring preload nut was tight so spring couldnt move about. I fitted them back on after BC themselves had tinkered with it. I just fitted them back on mate. I have had the car off the road for too long getting this looked at and there are no obvious issues. Had to leave it at that as...

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

Im unsure what you mean? The spring and shocker are one unit and spring cant touch the shocker body. The shocker DID hit the wheel as i was running over -4 camber but thats sorted now (donkeys set my car up remember)

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

The springs were set at 5mm when BC sent them back to me. Still the same. I opted for 2mm preload for easier ride and to try and soften the banging.

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

No mate. Nothing like that video. All shock and spring are one. Mechanic fitted them correctly. Two of my mates are Mercedes-Benz technicians and both had removed and refitted them. (original fitment and when sent back to BC and then when we swopped sides) Nothing to do with fitment and i...

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

Ive had 4 different mechanics/companies check it out and no fault found. All the suspension arms are new (adjustable) and everything is mint underneath. Problem was still there when shocks came back from BC. One of lifes little mysteries. Wont be buying BC again though as i still think the...
