    Best Oil - 2004 2.4 Petrol

I did read that this is what Honda recommend now but after being on 5w30 all of it's life wouldn't this be a drastic change? I've got the 5w40 now so will try that first...

    Best Oil - 2004 2.4 Petrol

I've decided to get some Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 for when I change the oil. Has anyone used this coming from 5w30, was there any difference? MPG, engine burning it less, quieter engine etc.

    Knocking front shock absorber

Honda shocks are £102 delivered so seems a no brainer to get those. Pattern ones are around £65.

    Knocking front shock absorber

I need to order these this week and get them changed but I'm having trouble finding any pattern ones that have the bracket for the HID lights, do they exist? I'm getting a price from Holdcroft tomorrow so I'm hoping they can do a good deal on them.

    Honda ball joint snapped! !

I didn't think Honda sold the ball joint separately and you had to buy a new knuckle with it already in? Or do they only change them if they do the job themselves?

    Best Oil - 2004 2.4 Petrol

I've been using 5w30 in mine since I bought it 3 years a go, I got a 25L Exol drum and have just finished it (between 2 cars). I've been thinking of changing to 5w40 next time it's due but can't decide what brand to go for, any suggestions?

    Knocking front shock absorber

This is the family car so I don't want the ride any harder than it currently is, I'll more than likely stick with stock suspension. I'm not bothered about re-sale value, it's a 13 year old car and isn't worth much now anyway. I've got an MX5 on coilovers for when I want to go fast around...

Thinking of Buying a High Mileage 54 Plate 2.4 VTEC Auto Accord - Help and Advice

I bought mine 3 years a go with 99k miles on the clock, it's almost done 120k miles now. Things I've had to replace are: New exhaust from cat back 2 x new rear calipers, slider pins and flexi hoses (I had issues with binding brakes so by choice replaced everything, been fine since) New air con...

    Noisy idler pulley?

Believe me I'm going to, especially after spending £1k on the car this month, that hurt! I really enjoyed the drive home, I didn't realise how much I would miss it :)

Starting issues 2.4 Auto - cranking but wouldn't start

Yes they tested the whole system and it's ok, so fingers crossed that's sorted it :)

    Knocking front shock absorber

I've not had a look around yet for the shocks and if I get Honda ones I'd order from Holdcroft so should be a little cheaper. Who sells Showa ones, I've never heard of them? The trouble with buying genuine parts is if I need to replace the springs it is cheaper to lower the car.

    Steel Wheels for Winter

That's a good point the steel wheels will be a different shape internally compared to alloys. Alloys are cheap enough on ebay though, I got mine for £70.

    Knocking front shock absorber

I've had a really loud knocking over bumps in the last few weeks so while the car was in the garage I got them to investigate it. Turns out one of the upper wishbone ball joints was knackered so they replaced it but there is still a slight knocking from somewhere else. They can't find it any...

    Noisy idler pulley?

Just got back from the garage with the car, they've had it for a week! They diagnosed the water pump as the cause of the noise with the belt on so I've had that replaced with a new Honda one, it sounds much better now :) They listened to the engine and have no concerns about it, it sounds...

Starting issues 2.4 Auto - cranking but wouldn't start

I have just got back from picking it up, they've done a few other jobs on it too. It was the starter motor and I've had it replaced with another Honda one, not cheap but if the original lasted 13 years this one should too. As it's located behind the manifold it's not a job you want to do twice...

    Steel Wheels for Winter

They will be fine mate, I have 16" Civic alloys on mine with winter tyres.

    Noisy idler pulley?

I did check the crank pulley and it felt ok. I made another video with the belt on and off. With it on, every now and again there is a metallic kind of noise, which must be the water pump then. Without the belt it's still really loud though. I've had the car 3 years and it's never been this...

Starting issues 2.4 Auto - cranking but wouldn't start

Thanks for the suggestion. I've taken the car to a garage to try and get to the bottom of it as it's getting worse. I'm still thinking it's the starter but I should know for definite tomorrow - hopefully.

    Noisy idler pulley?

I took the car to a jap specialist so they could diagnose this noise and they've come back saying it's the water pump. Now the noise is worse once the engine has warmed up and I took the belt off and ran the engine for a few seconds and it didn't really get any quieter. So as the water pump...

ATF change 2006 2l petrol help

When I did mine (2.4) I also changed the filter, which is under the airbox IIRC. It's worth doing that as well IMO.
