BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

That's frustrating. This chap is about my age (early 30s), works on mostly Japanese and German performance cars, organises road trips for his customers to all go to Nurburgring together in the cars that he's worked on and seems very in tune with the modified car scene judging by the way he talks...

BC Coilovers Query - What preload and height do you have?

My usual, local indie wasn't willing to install coilies. He's a really nice old chap and has sorted me out many times with good work. We talked it through and he concluded that he thinks I'd be better off finding a garage more experienced with modified cars as he doesn't have a geometry machine...

When did Honda offer HID as a factory option?

Jan's in Slovenia, Richard. Rules may be different. But yes, given that HID take a second or more to get up to brightness I'd wonder how well they would flash. Jan, my pre-facelift, HID headlamps look in a bad way. I want to replace them with facelift clusters. I was under the impression it was...

When did Honda offer HID as a factory option?

The new 2003 Honda Accord with the following as standard: All models: Failing rear tailgates (tourers only) Binding rear callipers Chocolate drive shafts Weak ARB Drop Links Weak ARB bushes Weak compliance bushes Creaky clutch pedals That weird crack, that's not really a crack that appears on...

When did Honda offer HID as a factory option?

They came as standard on pre-facelift Execs. After the facelift they became an optional extra with the Halogens standard across the entire range. I think there were issues of reliability surrounding the self levelling mechanism, hence it's been dropped as a standard fitting, what with Honda...

Sorry - another seized rear brake calliper thread - calliper replacement recommendations please :-)

Nah, wasn't Holdcroft, just my local Honda. I go there once a year for a service and a free MOT as they know me and do me favourable rates (despite me turning up with parts I've sourced myself) ;) .

Sorry - another seized rear brake calliper thread - calliper replacement recommendations please :-)

All sorted. They were up against it time wise as they were doing it around other booked jobs to get it sorted before midday so they weren't able to make time to do the hoses too, but the main thing is the MOT is passed and the brakes are significantly better. I'm going to try and get my coil...

    T-Zone tax, London

I call conspiracy. Years of financial incentives to drive diesels, now all of a sudden they're evil pollutants and must be highly taxed... Clearly the oil industry wants to focus on petrol sales for the next few years.

    Think my car is invisible

Yep! I de chromed my grill, fitted yellow fogs. Makes such a difference. My driving style is pretty sedate, but my car looks aggressive. That's what you need. A couple stickers and cosmetic tweaks that make people think "uh-oh, boy racer, give him a wide berth". It's sadly, the best way to have...

Which locking wheel nuts & which pcd wheels.

    If it's a 54 plate, it'll be 7th gen (5 stud wheels - won't fit your 6th gen). If it's a 52 plate, it should be 6th gen, which will be fine.

    New headlights fitted

I use Maguires headlamp kit. Is there another product I should use to seal them afterwards?

Great write up, very well explained.

    New headlights fitted

Mine need a heavy polish twice a year at least now. They yellow very quickly. Your new lights look great. I'll have to get round to doing this myself at some point. Are the clusters the same for HID and Halogens, if so it should be easy to source parts. If they're different it won't be easy as...

    Best Oil - 2004 2.4 Petrol

I run 5W-30 as per the handbook and what they instructed me at the Honda Garage. I get through a litre just over every 1K or so. This is again in accordance with the handbook and they say that's pretty normal at Honda. I would have thought with thinner oil, surely you're just going to be topping...

Failed my MOT - Cracked Exhaust!

45 minutes with the exhaust shop and the crack is sorted. It was where the straight pipe meets the Y-Splitter. No charge. They're really nice in there and friendly in there. Remembered me from 4 years ago, which was nice. The car's note has changed slightly. Feels more defined, which I guess is...

Sorry - another seized rear brake calliper thread - calliper replacement recommendations please :-)

The hoses are Hel, the discs were the second cheapest on the site on the not the cheapest, but one up from that logic! Wasn't expecting the seized callipers so have to keep the spending down. Will sort them out in 12 months or so with something a better.

Have the discs, callipers and the braided hoses. Collecting the brake pads tomorrow morning after I've had my exhaust sorted.
