P2004 - IMRC Intake Manifold Runner Control problems

No limp mode....just a warning light in this case..... I think the fuel/air mix refers to how well they mix when the air is turbulent....rather than quantities of each??? Surely this would apply to any combustion engine? Although happy to stand corrected. I also experienced better...

P2004 - IMRC Intake Manifold Runner Control problems

Hi buddy, How many miles has the car done? As above I've been through this process....the problem for me was the EGR...which over 100k had clogged up the swirl valve and the manifold as a whole.... Re function: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swirl_flap Basically they help create turbulence...

Inlet manifold de-coke (2 Cars done)

Inlet manifold de-coke (2 Cars done)

Thank you Jon for correcting me....I'm no technical expert....but the engine is definitely running better...more power....and less noise especially under load...guess that's when the noise increases on most engines. Given what we cleared out its obvious that performance will improve....bit...

Inlet manifold de-coke (2 Cars done)

Quick update... Re noise I can report that the engine is running quieter....particularly under load....had suspected the timing chain might have been at fault, but now I suspect the noise was pinking from poor air flow...this noise has pretty much disappeared since the decoke....

Inlet manifold de-coke (2 Cars done)

Ok so next up we tried to start her but for some reason battery seemed a little weak so ended up having to jump her....big puff of smoke out the back and idle a little off as ECU took its time over recovering from the shock of being able to breath again after 100,000 on 40 a day. Soon settled...

Inlet manifold de-coke (2 Cars done)

Part II Ok coke seemed to get rid of some of the carbonisation but oily deposits were pretty much untouched.... Spent two hours hitting the manifold with brake cleaner, Autosmart Tardis, and finally neat Autosmart G101 agitated with my old EZ wheel brush, while my star tech Ben cleaned the...

Inlet manifold de-coke (2 Cars done)

Hi guys, Thought I'd share my latest efforts to improve the running of my trusty Tourer.... Having dealt with the EGR issue I decided to give the butterfly valve a good clean up, and go one step further and de-coke the inlet manifold, have noticed some pretty heavy carbon deposits in the pipe...

Fitting tow bar on a saloon

Hi buddy, I have a tourer and went for the Witter detachable with a flanged tow bar....does require a small cut to the bumper but not visible and you can detach it when not in use which I prefer tbh. The flanged tow bar is great as you can fit a bumper protector which would not normally be an...
