To flap or not to flap

I like them! They give the car a bit more shape. Mud flaps are cool ;)

How long are you people planning to hang on to your cars for - and why?

Tricky question for me... I'm selling the Scirocco to cover the cost of buying my 2nd gen Prelude. The money from the Scirocco should cover the Prelude nicely. I'm sad to see the Scirocco go as it's a fun car, and I like my VW's. I like a rare Honda better though so in the end the Prelude...

wheel choice whats your car running?

Haha yeah, they looked alright on my Prelude, but on my Accord it's a no  I had to swap the wheels between the cars though as I needed sensible wheels on the Prelude for winter. The 6g Accord is still over at my parents, I haven't had a lot of time to work on it sadly :( My Golf is in...

wheel choice whats your car running?

Hi mate, There's a fair few wheels out there that will fit - 4th gen Preludes have a 4x114.3 stud pattern for example. Apologies for the rubbish photo, but here's my 6g sitting on some 17 inch BK's off my Prelude IMO the large wheels don't really suit it, I prefer the stock ones :) ;)

Can anyone do me a quick favour?

If you think about it, the centre of gravity of the engine is offset to the passenger side of the car, so it makes sense that it would lean that way if both sides of the suspension are identical in specification. At any rate, I weigh 13 stone and I notice the driver's side drops when I get in...

    pinking

I think the Ed China endorsed one is the Terraclean system?? There was a big thread on it here a while back. I'd be interested to get it done on my Golf, and then strip it down after to inspect the cylinders. Don't fancy spending that much just out of curiosity though

    pinking

Sounds like the car is suffering from detonation, and a fuel's octane rating is an indication of its resistance to detonation, so upping the octane could cure it. Iirc the manual in my F20B6 fitted Accord stated that 97 octane fuel should be used, I know you can use regular fuel as the ECU...

    pinking

Try a high octane fuel and see if that cures it - then you can either confirm or cross off the quality of the fuel you're using :)

    6th Gen Accord / Rover 600 compatibilty?

I'd have thought if anything it'd be the 5th gen Accord that has interchangeable parts, I think that the 6th gen came after Honda and Rover stopped collaborating.

    Fun with A/C...NOT

Glad you got it sorted cheaply mate!! If I need any work done by dealers I think I'll be taking a brief holiday to Poland :) As for the ball joint, don't know about newer cars but on the 6th gen I disassembled the suspension myself, and it took my mechanic 15 mins to fit a new ball joint...

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

H&R do lowering springs for sensible money, however they only provide a 40mm drop and I've measured the arch gap - 100mm!!! Plus ideally I'd want to replace all the shocks at the same time, which adds to the cost. I could just lump them on the existing shocks but for all I know they could be as...

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

Cheers guys :) Some more pictures as I found my good camera, and I'm obsessed with my car still  :D

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

Cheers Brett, I thought they suited the age and style of the car :) I love the contrast in colours too, I think the dark grey and chrome polished lip compliment red well, even if I do say so myself :P They're very lightweight too which is a result! They were made by Enkei for Honda, and they're...

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

Cheers Steve :) Feels like I've only got a couple of bits to do and I'll be happy with her. You're more than welcome to come for a spin sometime mate, I'm only down the road! The C7 is particularly good fun in the Accord!

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

New (old) wheels!! Bought these ages ago but have only just had a friend collect them for me. So spent the evening over at my mate's over in Battle getting these on! Just got home after a nice country drive :) at any rate here are some piccy's: I'm in love  just need to get her lowered...

    Squeaky front dorr

I was driving home from Hastings the other night, could hear a really weird rhythmic squeaking/rasping noise from the door. Had me baffled for a good half hour, until I noticed that my dog was leaning his head on the side of my seat and breathing in my ear  Sorry, that's not very helpful I...

    MPG

Don't be sad about your MPG mate - you have a lovely 2.4 DOHC i-VTEC engine. I'd rather pay more at the pumps and enjoy driving my car. I've only ever bought one car based on mpg figures out of 7 I've owned, and it's the only one I've ever had regrets about. The rest cost a bit more at the...

    EPS - Electric Power Steering

Most Jap Hondas seem to have EPS, they love autos and EPS in Japan it seems. The older Honda's with EPS had adjustable steering feel on a rocker switch which is kind of cool :)

Coolant compatibility on pre 2006 cars

I've been using the orange/pink stuff in my older cars, it's what my mechanic mate recommended. They're proper ancient though so it's hard to tell if they're forming new crystals, as there's a lot there already

    EPS - Electric Power Steering

^^ Quite right, EPS is about as detached as steering feel gets from my experience. Having driven a fairly large range of the newest Honda's, plus a fair amount of other random cars over the last year or so, I find that if you want steering feedback then you don't want any form of ***isted...
