How far into the red do you go on the Fuel Gauge?

I usually wait till the on board computer tells me I have 50 miles left before its empty then start to look for a Shell station and fill the car up. So I'd estimate that to be between 1 & 1.5 gallons left. That way I don't end up running it into the red and risk picking up any rubbish out of the...

Fuel filter change, a bottlers guide!

Sorry I missed out the bit about the primer bulb. IIFR It has a metal cover over the top of it. The 2 screws which are just in front/ below the primer bulb need to be removed, the metal cover can then be lifted off (part 23). The primer bulb is then held in by a white plastic clip (part 25)...

Fuel filter change, a bottlers guide!

It's really easy, remove the 2 fuel pipes on the top of the filter housing, unclip the 3 wire connectors, unscrew the 2 screws holding the housing to the bulkhead, and lift out. Refitting is the reverse of removal. You should have persisted its so simple its hard to get it wrong. Better luck...

    Sump plate

I suppose in theory if they have overtightened the nut the repeated change from hot to cold from using the engine could have stressed it and caused the crack. But the sump is aluminium so I though stripping the thread would have been more likely if it was overtightened. Also they have a crush...

    locked keys in car

I though everyone knew about this, I'm usually quite late hearing about these sorts of things as I don't spend my life watching youtube clips. lol I heard about it around the same time as 'holding the key fob to your head boosts the range of the signal' Which definitely does work, I used that...

    locked keys in car

I didn't believe it either till I saw it! I take it then on these cars if you push the locking pin down and shut the drivers door it doesn't automatically pop back up to stop you locking yourself out!? Which is sort of asking for trouble, like in this case.

    locked keys in car

If your fiance has a spare set of keys at home get her to ring you from her mobile to your mobile, then get her to hold the key fob to the phone and press the unlock button. If you point your phone at the car and hold it close to it it may unlock. Strange as it sounds, and I don't know how or...

    oil level and change

If the oil level is between the min and max line then its fine. If its outside of these marks you need to do something about it. Over filling can be as bad as under filling!

    Suspected timing chain BAD RATTLE

I'd phone up my breakdown company Monday morning and tell them it's making a bad noise, let them come out and listen to it very briefly, tell them you think it's the timing chain so you don't want to drive it, and get them to tow it to Honda where coincidentally they will have a slot to book...

Accord 2.2 i-CTDi - what are the performance differences btw models?

The facelift definitely goes over 130 mph, and it was still pulling strong. :) Don't know what the top speed is though, thought it was about 145-150mph.

    Service Advice

That's one heck of a drive for a car. But then I got mine from York so.... Your car may also benefit from changing the gearbox oil as well. Some members have reported noticeably smoother gear changes after an oil change. ps DIY service guides are all on the forum.

    Service Advice

3rd year service should also have had a brake fluid change. When a dealer says 'fluids have been checked' that does not automatically mean changed. Personally I'd change all the filters and fluids just so you know that everything is up to date. You can get all filters from HH for under £75.

Which Brake Discs and Pads - Brembo or EBC

Unless you're suffering from performance issues on your standard pads like brake fade then the Green stuff pads will be perfectly fine. They have good initial bite from cold which I think is quite noticeable over standard pads even when paired with standard disks. The grooved discs will cause...

    Penta Alloy refurb
