    Rear ABS sensor

Faddy I'm having sudden last minute gremlins on SPUTNIK(I). A few weeks back it wouldn't start after running warm on a journey, but I've since stripped & cleaned the cam sensor and it now seems fine, i.e. no matter how many times after warm or cold, it starts... I got it MOT'd earlier this week...

    Accord 04 CDTi starting problems

SPUTNIK had a full set of used injectors fitted late last year. They weren't just dropped in, I had them all cleaned & tested beforehand. As declared in a recent post, she is a non-smoker these days. Last night this was all occurring ~20<>30 mins after a run home Leeds>Manchester. I tried to...

    Accord 04 CDTi starting problems

50 mins later and now it starts. That surely must be a ****ey crank sensor ???? I somehow expect it will start fine in the morning and also early eve when returning home. Though the sudden concern is when pitstopping for a tank of derv. Can anybody pls advise part details & location...

    Accord 04 CDTi starting problems

Hi All, I think SPUTNIK has overheard me talking about parting with it :o . I the last few weeks its been taking just that little bit longer to crank. I've just got home and needed to go out again...say 20mins later, and this time she won't fire up. Its a bit weird really after a 37mile...

    high mile diesels

I've got the 2.0 PSA 16V engine in my S-Max with 145K miles. Had a few minor niggles but nothing too dramatic. I know I've previously burnt my fingers on French cars, but currently very tempted to get a 207 1.6HDI-110 GT. Do I need phsyciatric help?

    Sputnik up for sale soon

One thing I ALWAYS do is NEVER rev the engine on startup/shutdown and never go above 2000rpm til I can see the temp gauge climbing out of the cold. The turbo has a very mild whistle when cold @ ~1500rpm, but soon goes away ( just like its done for the past 4yrs). Its also still on its original...

    Sputnik up for sale soon

One thing for sure is I want to sell it 13 month MOT'd & serviced so nobody can complain. Also I'm making damn sure I don't let go of it to anyone I'm unable to track down genuine address details for. The last thing I need is some chav buying it and then a month later the cops knocking on my...

    Sputnik up for sale soon

Hi all, not been on 'ere much but still running Sputnik. She's on 265K miles and despite a few knocks & creeks she's still patrolling the Manchester<>Leeds corridor of the M62. The MOT is end of June so I'm planning to get it ticket'd right on the 30days limit to give it 13months validity, plus...

    Ebay ABS sensors

...word of warning. Be 100% sure you're getting the right ones. Not sure about fronts, but rears differ between tourer & saloon ( and I'm not sure the TSX was sold in the US as a 'station wagon'....though I suppose a quick google will solve that issue ) edit : my googling suggest only 8th gen...

    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

Well done lad. Goes to show how poorly geared up most dealerships are these days thanks to computerised configuration. A whole car could have been broke up due to a solenoid priced similar to a tank of fuel.

    Oh dear

What symptoms preceeded this occurrence ?? Any steadily increasing noises or just a sudden clunk. Did the engine get shut down quick enough to preserve the bearings & turbo?

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

Smells could be due to all the disturbed oily parts and might need some time to burn off. If it starts instantly without any delay, then it can't be a fuel leak. Does it take more than a second to start ? The low mpg after install might be due to the disturbance of the ECU, I thought that they...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

Sorry Natasha I'll admit to having doubts about the authenticity of the post, so apologies due. Overcooked catalizer isn't something I've considered , but hey lets see. Maybe it could be bypassed, but not sure if ECU sensors would throw a fit. ECU could have been messed up, but I still find it...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

I'm feeling that way too in this one. I only got physics at GCSE ...but....fuel is energy. Energy converts to kinetic or heat ( in this instance ), or it stays as fuel if not efficiently converted. So if fuel goes into the engine and doesn't get converted into the designed quantity of kinetic...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

I'd love to see an outcome to this post. Best average I've ever had was ~44mpg, but overall its more like 42<>43 mpg. When I saw the post ***le...my first thought without reading the post text was 'injectors', but as others have already said, poor fuelling means smoking on acceleration. I've...

    ictdi injectors removal ?

yeah just a screw and a multiplug, straightforward until you realise one is stuck. Then its slidehammers , hydraulic tension gear etc etc. Best left to a specialist unless to are 100% sure you know you're your doing.

    Engine Oil Conditioner

Changing @ 5<>6K is plenty cautious enough, I wouldn't bother doing anything further than this. I change @ 10K which equates to twice a year. As well as oil , I always do the fuel & air filter each time too. I cringe when I see ebay sellers bragging about service history on cars an they list...
