    What wax/sealant for green pearl?

476 is better for lighter colours, 915 seems to suit darks... for a good winter protection I'd be looking at about 3 layers of colly with a good few hours between.

Any buying advice for quiet, durable tyres for motorway driving

problem is some of your conditions are mutually exclusive e.g. long lasting - requires harder compound good grip in snow - requires high silica which means softer compound quiet - generally mean not "blocky" tread which is bad in snow where you want blocky tread quiet budget motorway tyres...

    winter tyres

I had Continental Winter contacts last year and they will be going back on next week. Absolutely superb things. I live in a small estate witha single road in/out which is ~ 1:4 with a sharp bnd at the bottom. with Summer tyres I was getting nowhere, VSa was just fighting itself silly. With...

    My dilema

I guess I also enjoy playing the shopping for a new car game..... :D I really liked my Volvo, the seats were simply brilliant, the engine a peach, it even handled well for a big old bus. Even my 6YO daughter still tells me she misses that car.... I keep toying with the idea of getting nice old...

    My dilema

it sounds daft but I enjoy a bit of spannering, especially when I dont have to worry too much about putting it back together in time to get to work in it on Monday :D Space is not an issue and selling bits on isn't that much of a hardship, who knows, perhaps a small donation to TA I could be...

    My dilema

@ebod, I too would never want to sell a car with a "hidden" fault, when I ebay I detail right down to the last scratch including any intermittant faults. I believe in honesty and karma and knowing that I have a clear conscience when someone drives away means a lot to me. As I said, whenever I do...

    Tranquil Driving...

Now my old A8, that was a quiet car with stunning stereo, double glazing rocks. If anything it was too quiet that you couldn't hear that lovely v8 under the bonnet.

    My dilema

Hmmmmm, one thing, I never trade cars in, they either die a complete death or get flea bayed when I get fed up with them. I do miss enjoying my drive to work, I have the option of the last 15 miles by twisty back road and when I owned my t5 and my A8 I often took it, I can't remember the last...

    My dilema

OK, so my car is pretty high mileage, currently 174K and climbing at ~ 25-30K/year its an 05 plate tourer in generally decent nick( drivers seat obviously more worn than teh rest and a little saggy but not that bad. Thing is the clutch has been slipping since ~152K but isn't any worse than when...

First impression of a Accord newbie - too much road noise from tyres! (Any suggestions?)

I too found tyres to be critical in noise reduction, teh michelins mine had when it came were horrible, I put Nankang NS2s on (which I've used for years and are excellent) and it was much better, I briefly tried some Khumo's and they were worse than the Nankangs in both noise and grip. Strangly...

    Alternative to clay bar

sandpaper :D To be honest, I managed to rinse, wash, rinse, dry, clay, quick once over with Menzerna Final finish, carlack and collinite my tourer in less than 3 hours. That also included a quick buzz over of the headlights with a coarser polish to get rid of the majority of stone chips.

    How to remove stone chips?

I guess it depends on what "Quality of finish" you are looking for and how many you have. lots of chips and top quality finish then get the bonnet resprayed, just odd one and just to stop the undercoat/rust showing then a touch up pen should suffice. In betweeen you have all levels from filling...

    what polish

hehe, only thing about photobucket etc is that most work firewalls block them so I can never see teh pictures untill I get home :D
  15. E

    what polish

shove another coat of colly on as soon as you can I find 2-3 coats really makes it last with mine still beading after 4-5 months.
  16. E

    what polish

you buy a small bar of special clay and using either water or a special lubricant you rub it hard all over the paintwork. this removes all sorts of rubbish that washing doesn't. The paint feels as smooth as glass but more importantly the wax/sealent you then use gives a better shine. You only...

price up oil and filter change at National, its under 50 quid, 10 quid for an air filter from your local motor factor or someone like eurocarparts, this is 4 screws to change, takes 3 mins tops, pollen filter change is dead simple as well ( although I just removed mine as it gives a huge...

    Tailgate failure

Yep, mine did that, was a real PITA, what the heck was wrong with a mechanical latch for opening it, I managed to strip the catch ***embly on mine and bend the contacts on the rotating position sensors and its been fine since, did need a disconnect of teh battery to reset it though.
