I only watched the ATR bit and I had a gentlemans twitch when he hit VTEC. I remember them golden days before I-VTEC.......

Honda cars have no more problems with aftermarket parts than any other manufacturers

I think it would be better if the thread ***le was something along the lines of do inferior quality parts make any more difference to Honda than other manufacturers. As the problem with some non genuine parts rests with the people who made them and not with Honda.

What other cars have people got/had

Would you buy this Type R?

A £1600 ATR is going to be a nail, so no I wouldn't buy it. I wouldn't pay that much attention to the short time someone has owned one of these cars. Sometimes people don't realise how costly they are to run everyday. The chap who bought mine sold it after 4 months and that was a particularly...

    Front Brake Pads

That's not a Honda part number. There are two variants of pad for 8th Gen Accords, depending on engine. There is only one type of pad for your car. You can buy genuine Honda pads and have them delivered to your door for less than £40 from Holdcroft Honda, so it's not worth looking at...

Timing chain 2004 accord diesel engine

Diesels are too troublesome for me and the fuel saving isn't great enough to offset against costly DPF, turbo, chain and DMF repairs. Hence why my CR-V is petrol. Diesel owners tend to be penny-pinchers as well (lol). Which doesn't stand that well in terms of a good standard of maintenance...

    Honda ball joint snapped! !

Ball joints usually don't just snap, they wear. You would normally hear a groaning noise coming from the steering for a considerable time before a complete failure. This would obviously alert you that somethings not quite right. They do wear on Accords, I replaced two on my ATR in quick...

    Headlight bulbs always blowing

Why pay them expensive prices though?

    Headlight bulbs always blowing

I do yes. The 7th Gen Accord doesn't like non genuine bulbs. The bonus is that the Honda ones are cheaper than Halfords.

Are you using genuine Honda bulbs?

Timing chain 2004 accord diesel engine

Yes you should. Honda offered a goodwill gesture towards repair for premature failure. You haven't experienced a premature failure, you have experienced fair wear and tear on a 12 year old car that has done 100K miles. Has your car got a full Honda service history?

Timing chain 2004 accord diesel engine

Pay for it to be repaired like everyone else with a 100K mile 12 year old car.

Hit the nail on the head there I think.

    Euro R question

I just can't imagine me ever buying another. As fun as they are, they're really old and without the refinements I want from a car now. I've done the fast(ish) saloon part of my life and I'm equally as happy with my leather clad diesel estate car now.

    Euro R question

As much as i like the car and still miss it, I don't think I would buy another. It would be like going back to an ex girlfriend. Nice for a while but then you would remember why you give her the push the first time around. I think it's better just to have fond memories.

    Euro R question

Doncaster, which is sort of abroad as they do talk funny. A good guy who is a proper Honda enthusiast and has a couple of CRX's. I had a guy who was coming from France the following weekend but he didn't want to send me a deposit to secure it. He was gutted when I told him I'd sold it, but it...

    Euro R question

My biggest problem with a Euro-R is that it's an import and you don't get them same back up from the manufacturer in terms of parts supply. That's why at the time i went for the newest ATR I could find. The only regret I had from my time as an ATR owner was right at the end when I sold it.

    Type S vs type R

A CTR will muller a CL9 I'm affraid. I had a go with an EP3 in my ATR last year and it pulled on me slighty between 30-50 and then the two were pretty much on par.

From Manual to Automatic heater control? Is it hard?

That can be done. I had it there with a double din headunit in the top section in my old ATR.
