Import Duty on an Exhaust from Poland

Thanks Blippi, I could live with that. Middle section, y-section and 2 back boxes working out at £220 so even adding 20%, still way cheaper that anything here, even if anyone had all the bits I need. Got one quote for a stainless from cat back - £80 to fit the front flexi and CAT I already...

Import Duty on an Exhaust from Poland

Have a new down pipe and CAT but getting nowhere getting a quote for a custom stainless set up. Skunk 2 looks nice but at near 900 quid? Can get the other 4 bits I require from Poland at a fraction of the prices being quoted here in the UK. They seem to have an office in London and some sort of...

Broke the wire to the Knock Sensor

It's the knock sensor and the only seller in the uk offering the plug with a tail attached is under some illusion it fits the Accord- it doesn't as I found to my cost. It fits Civics but not Accords. Dozens that would fit but all coming from China and have ordered one but God knows when it will...

Broke the wire to the Knock Sensor

2004 2.4 Starter goosed (hope that's all it is) Had the same nightmare as on my last one getting into the 12mm bolt attaching the manifold support bracket. Neighbour is a mechanic and gave me a hand so starter installed. Was warned that the socket for the ignition wire pointed sideways as...

    Leak from nearside gearbox seal.

Accord 2.4 tourer 2003. Last m.o.t. needed a wishbone bush. Afterwards noticed fluid leaking. Nearside gearbox seal. Shaft popped and nicked seal on re-install? Any case, next door neighbour a mechanic, Dingbro, 3 different types, Europarts, 3 different types.. send all 3 return 2.. NO Honda...

    Spark Plug Advise

A few hundred miles later and I'm pleased to say, if any difference, the car runs quieter and smoother on the copper plugs. Saying that, the Iridium ones I removed looked well past their best. New oil, filters and a small adjustment to handbrake, car sailed through it's m.o.t. with no advisories...

    Spark Plug Advise

Thanks for that pointer but these are standard NGKs V groove copper bought from Europarts. Since I notice no difference and have never had problems, even in turbo'd cars, will stick to the copper and just change them more often.

    Spark Plug Advise

Well swapped the near new NGK ZFR6K-11 from the 2 ltr into the 2.4 and can't say I notice any difference at all. The iridiums that came out looked healthy enough colour wise re mixture but otherwise looked way past their best. Put in a new air filter last week and it did make a noticeable...

    Dead 2 ltr Exec

Hi Miah, I will get back to you once I've decided. Thinking of putting it under a hap in my mates yard and stripping it. Even if it takes a while and I split the sales with him, at least I'd get something back.

    Dead 2 ltr Exec

As a footnote, it's not actually dead.Starts and drives as if nothings wrong with it. Doesn't really show any signs of a problem other than the top hose getting pressurised. Took me back & forwards from Fife to Edinburgh for a month after a gas test showed it was blowing slightly. Annoys me as...

    Changing the ATF

This is taken from a site for CRVs but reckon it should be the same for an Accord? Check Out the Latest Word on A/T Flushing Some A/T repair procedures call for flushing the trans using Honda Genuine ATF-Z1 (and no substitutes). Problem is, where do you find the info to do that? It’s not...

    Spark Plug Advise

Cheers Scooby, the handbook lists the NGKs, part numbers being exactly the same bar the i in front for the iridium ones. Will take them out and compare and give them a bash and post how I get on.

    Dead 2 ltr Exec

Any thoughts? Have this lying in the drive and getting grief from her indoors. Head warped/gasket gone and needs a full new exhaust and some drop links. Not worth fixing even if I could do the work myself. Problem is it's sat on the Pentas off the 2.4. Tyres were goosed so just changed over the...

    Spark Plug Advise

Nope? well the plugs are coming out the 2.4 as I can't find any record of them being changed, just an advisory that they were overdue, so the standards from the dead 2 ltr are going in.

    Changing the ATF

Thanks Scooby, sense as usual. I trawled the net and there's hundred of pages on the American CRV site. A video suggests taking a line of the ATF filter with the engine running, two people needed and letting the engine pump out the old stuff whilst someone pours in new. Also an oil expert...

    Changing the ATF

I want to change the ATF and have searched the threads but see no mention of flushing. You tube videos suggest flushing two or three times. Given the cheapest I can find fluid is £26 for 3 bottles, looking near 100 quid if flushed twice. Is this really necessary? The car has a full history from...

    Spark Plug Advise

Just a thought. Since I don't mind changing plugs regularly. I just put a new set of NGK ZFR6K-11 into the dead 2 ltr. Would these be ok to use in the 2.4, realising they won't last as long. Thanks in advance.

    Accord handbrake adjustment

Not at all certain but I'd hazard a guess that pushing the lips/prongs whatever, up the way would cause the adjuster to expand pushing the shoes closer to the drum? On the other hand if it's a 7th gen and on the bottom, that's anyone guess without removing the disc to see the orientation of the...
