    Clicking Brake

The pads are pattern, but they've been in for a few months so should be well bedded in by now. It's just one click and tends to be more noticable with light braking, but that's probably because I'm driving slower. Will try the hard braking bit tomorrow though, just in case. I think if I've...

    Clicking Brake

Hi Brett, cars got 60,000kms on it (what's that - about 40,000 in real money?). Noise only happens when the car is moving. I press the brake pedal and there's the knock / click. If I press the brake again, no sound until I've accelerated a tiny bit, which was why I thought caliper - you...

IMPORTANT - Diesel oil and particulate filter

Mine seems to be a tad thirsty with the oil. Just thrown another litre(!) in today. Getting the weight Honda recommends is a real PITA over here so I've been chucking in Castrol 5W30 in. ******. Hope it's nit going to cause more hassle.

    Clicking Brake

Alright guys, I've recently noticed that there's a single knock / loud click from the front when I apply the brakes. I thought it might be a caliper having worked loose from when I changed the pads over a few months ago, but I've had the wheels off today and they seem OK. Knock seem to come...

Hot rear wheels and rubbery smell

Al, I did file down the pad retainers, although they weren't too bad after I'd wire brushed them. The pads are brand spanking new - only swapped them out a couple of weeks ago. The discs didn't seem too bad, although I should probably measure them next time I've got the wheels off and make...

Hot rear wheels and rubbery smell

Well I've taken them apart and given them a bloody good clean and scrub up. It's amazing just how grotty these things get in the space of a few weeks. Anyway, all is now shiny bright and little rust spots gone, although I didn't grease the slider pins, so I'll probably be back doing it again...

Hot rear wheels and rubbery smell

Thanks for the quick replies - have to fess up and admit that I did just give the calipers a quick clean with the brake cleaner. Looks like I'll be stripping them down and lubing them and possibly changing the brake fluid - I'm not convinced the dealer did it at the 3 year service, after all...

Hot rear wheels and rubbery smell

Hi all, I recently had a problem with squeaking from the rear which turned out to be the brake pads (they'd done 50k km). As the dealer wanted €400 to change them I did them myself. All was fine but last week they started intermittently squeaking again. When they do squeak, the wheel gets...
