Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

As an update. New hub (larger version from AUTODOC at around 80 quid and 2 week delivery) has sorted it. Everyone tried to sell me a smaller version for a tourer, which is incorrect

Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

I'll take a photo when I swap it out. It's safe to say it's dead, around half of the magnetic material is missing!

Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

That is super useful. I'm going to check the hub before I order anything. Interestingly I don't recall seeing that hump on mine... Thanks for taking the time to respond

You may have saved me making the same mistake. Where did you get your hub from, as the issue appears to be I can only see the smaller versions.

Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

The magnetic ring is caput, the swarf has destroyed it. There isn't much of it left Cleaned it out with the hub off, but no joy, it's not picking up a signal.

Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

So, hub off and the swarf has damaged the pick up ring. New hub time. The replacements listed for sale note they fit tourer and saloon?

Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

I think that's my next step, looking at the photos and comparing what's down my hole, there is something in the way between sensor and the ring on the bearing. Probably a bit of the sensor that's melted and gone hard

Rear abs sensor replaced. Still have abs issues

So, rear left abs was showing up at fault. I had a quick look and promptly broke the head of the sensor (and then read on here how fragile they are). I've now drilled out the old sensor, refitted but I'm sure I didn't get out all the crud. Ive had a second go and got a lot of crud out but...

    Hds egr and dpf data

Thanks, It's a fabulous resource and I've learnt a heap from reading old posts. I hope it can it be self sufficient and not get lost like so many others.

    Hds egr and dpf data

Most of the car forums I used to use are now on Facebook groups, the traffic has dropped off massively on them and it's free hosting. The facilities on forums such as this to search for issues/guides etc are far better, and eventually the great knowledge gets lost.

    Hds egr and dpf data

I appreciate I might just be aiming this @F6HAD... I've read pages and pages of brilliant posts on here over the years. It's such a shame Facebook seems hell bent on destroying brilliant resources such as this site. I've got my hds clone, and feeling rather chuffed about getting it working on...

Sensors and pipes all in place. I've got hds coming and can have a closer look. Glow plugs all have same resistance, I'll do some further checking of them when back from hols.

Egr plate is now in, no issues so far. No leaks or anything untoward around the downpipe. If anything it sounds worse with the heat shield on. Slight rattle on start up, I'm unsure if it's dmf or maybe a glow plug as there is a puff of unburnt fuel on first start. No errors on a simple...

Thank you. Just need the exhaust sensor removal socket to turn up. I've got a plate I can slip in to test.

Really appreciate your reply F6had. I was hoping it was a thin plate. I'd better investigate if the map has it closed then. No fumes/smell between battery and block area but there might be some old deposits on top of the gear box. Looks an absolute nightmare to change.

I think I've found it. Wowzers, it's well buried! That tab I think is a blanking plate on the valve outlet , but I'll investigate further. I think the noise is me being paranoid, it's only noticeable bonnet up and around the downpipe /dpf area.

Edit, I've ordered a 22mm oxygen sensor socket to have a closer investigation

@F6HAD, I can't seem to see a typical egr pipe running from the turbo area, around the battery side and to the egr at the rear. Are they the usual steel pipe with the rippled sections at the bends? Is the egr pipe typically under the alloy boost pipe section that's on the side of the block...

That is a good point, it is what I'd class as resonance, dirty air. I'll have a smell!
