    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

Just an update on my manifold - booked into Springfield Honda in Newcastle and diagnosed as cracked manifold. Booked straight in once they had the part and repaired free of charge, no questions asked. Very good in my opinion.

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

Its very noticeable at idle but not noticeable at all when you're driving, however it can't be good. CO has no smell and I'm not about to expose myself to possible CO emissions. Lets hope its an easy fix.

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

Great thread - I've got the dreaded smell in cabin - booked straight in to Honda Newcastle and am going tomorrow morning. Good to know what it probably is and that at 90k should be covered. Full Honda service history but that doesn't matter. Thats a clutch and a manifold gone at 90k - my focus...

    Good place for Honda Parts?

Hi there, I've got an MOT advisory to get the o/s driveshaft cover replaced as it's cracked - does anyone know what part it is? It's a 06 2.2 ctdi. Also I've just noticed a stone must have gone through my n/s fog light lens - what number is that one as well? I'm going to get an indy to do both...

    Engine Warning Light

Cheers guys, It hasn't happened again so it may have been a surge of current or a misfire. Certainly nothing seems wrong but I'm going to add some millers to the next fill up to give it a good clean.

    Engine Warning Light

Hi there, Yesterday my engine warning light came on and I couldn't rev over 2000 (06 ctdi exec saloon), so I went to my local garage who erased the error codes (I think there were 4 but 0634 rings a bell with a pending one as well). The car was fine and still is - I'm obviously going to take it...

    Windscreen washer route

Nice one J4JAV! It's warmed up again (typical) but now I know where to warm the pipes up. Just found out about the headlight washers

How long has your clutch lasted

69K here on standard map - I'm the second owner and had the car for 4 months. I do 90% of my driving in 5th and 6th so it wasn't me who wore it out. Diagnosed as friction plate wear, so the woman before me may have done a lot of urban miles. Is this an issue on the 8th Gen or is it too early to...

    Windscreen washer route

Hi All, Does anyone know where the pipe for the washer jets routes? Mine have been frozen for 4 days now despite adding copious non-freeze screenwash and boiling water to the reservoir and to the jets themselves. The sooner the thaw comes the better - not pleasant 120 miles a day through...

    Clutch gone

Spoke to the technician who carried out the work - he didn't really notice anything when he test drove it. He would have to test it again and I really need the car for work, so it's not going to be easy. I've got a local guy here in Berwick who really knows his stuff, so I'll get him to have a...

    Clutch gone

Got the car back and the bite point is so much lower than it was - admittedly knowing the difference, the old clutch was gone. All confirmed by garage. The one thing is the pedal is a lot harder to operate - will it wear in a bit or should I get it adjusted? I'll never make a negotiator - paid...

    Clutch gone

Thanks for all the advice, It's bound to be ready today so when they ring I'll confirm the friction plate was worn and still try and get some goodwill gesture from them - I'm due for another service in 4 months so they would lose out on that if I felt really put out. Shy bairns get nowt as...

    Clutch gone

The garage rang - simply wear and tear - £585 not covered by warranty. Just had a word with consumer helpline and it's a grey area so the best I can hope for is a goodwill gesture on behalf of the dealer. I still think after only 4 1/2 months it's pretty lame. Simon

    Clutch gone

Just had word from the garage that it needs dismantling to look at the problem, so they're taking it apart. It's the garage I bought the car from and I only bought it 4 1/2 months ago - I was wondering if the sale of goods act kicks in for secondhand cars : this is one of the terms :- during...

    Clutch gone

Cheers guys, The warranty is with Honda as I bought it through their approved used scheme from a dealer. Fingers crossed Brett that it is just the pressure plate. Will let you know what I find out - it's booked in on Thursday for inspection as that was the soonest they had a courtesy car...

    Clutch gone

Hi all, Just going up a steep hill in 6th using cruise control and the clutch slipped and the cruise control automatically switched itself off. Booted it up another hill and same thing - revs rise then accelerate. The car has done 67k and I've had it since the end of June and 55k. I bought it...

What sort of mpg do you all get on your diesels?

Well that's 3/4 of a tank to start and a refill today of v power diesel and I've got to say I'm impressed. For my style of driving, which is all A1, it's noticeably better. In 6th at 1.5k revs there's no more 'pinking' when I accelerate - it isn't but it sounded like it - gone now and better low...

What sort of mpg do you all get on your diesels?

Filled up with 48 litres after that so that was 49.5mpg Have filled up with vpower to see if I notice anything, but will have to give it a couple of tanks to find out. Only works out a couple of quid extra for me as work pay for the fuel. Simon

What sort of mpg do you all get on your diesels?

I'll do the calc when I next fill up - and I normally use Esso Diesel, was just handy last week. I'll give Shell a go as there's one in Berwick. Out of interest, having worked for an oil blending and additive company, what's the benefit of VPower? I know that supermarket fuel has less additives...
